Its usage is explained in the PDFs tutorials accompanying the mod tools.

Basically, it's a command line program (meaning, no GUI) to convert finished XSI models into the Sins meshes.

but the box doesn't open up long enough for me to type in the syntax to change the .xsi file. is there a way to get it in there? it only blinks for a fraction of a second. (:(

well honestly I don't know how to use convert xsi, but that little black screen is called command prompt. you can get to it by start, programs, accessories. It uses a form a software called DOS, or disk operating software. It is the original system that Microsoft came up with (after copying Apple). They then built windows over it so be VERY warned. From DOS, you can delete your operating software along with any other data your computer holds. Rather than folders it has directories. Also, don't make spelling mistakes. Sometimes, even if you correct yourself, it will not accept it.

You gotta use a DOS prompt to do it, or alternatively you can probably create a Windows shortcut for it, and edit the command line in its properties.

Right, you'll have to get cmd running before you navigate to wherever ConvertXSI is located.

Start > Run > type in CMD.

The terminal should come up, so just type the path to where the file is. For example, if I had ConvertXSI in a folder directly off the C:\ drive, I'd type something that would look like this:

C:\ConvertXSI\convertxsi.exe

Ignore the part where it says C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\

And then perhaps some text would come up, explaining that it's the program, ocpywrite info if there is any and stuff like that. If you don't know how to use it, the commands I mean, and it didn't come with a readme or some other help file, typing in 'help' usually provides you with some rudimentary commands.

By the way, Volt, First, there was 86-DOS. Then, there was PC-DOS. Then, Microsoft licensed PC-DOS and modified it, turning it into:

MS-DOS.

So, no, Microsoft did do this legally. HaAven't you ever heard of OS/2?

Yes I know they did it legally, but they still based it off the same thing. The concept of folders or directories was copied. They then sold it to computer companies like IBM..

thanks the DOS command works fine but when i put in the syntax it says error:CXSI parser::open then failed to open the name of the file.
