Games For Windows Live

Does anyone else HATE this?? I bought Universe at War: Earth Assault, but the developers may as well have left out the multiplayer parts of the game, as GFWL cripples it completely. Unless you want to pay extra for something that is expected to be included...

I like the game though, it is fun to play, until singleplayer gets old.

It scares me that now Dawn of War II is going to use GFWL. They insist it will be completely free, however, in a way that sounds like there's not going to be a distinction between Silver and Gold.

We shall see..

From the official Q&A:
There will be no subscription fee for any multiplayer gaming features using the Games for Windows – LIVE service in Dawn of War II
End of quote

That is a relief ... I guess Relic/THQ aren't complete idiots!

The only possible worry I have over GFWL with DoW2 is their nebulous comments about what they're going to use the marketplace for. If they sell custom skins, maps, etc. over it, it's doubtful they'll be very supportive of a modding community giving away those kinds of things for free.

That being said, other than more recent experience with the horrible Soulstorm and their nonexistent patching, I trust Relic to do a great job with what looks to be a new flagship title.

Yea, Relic has a good track record! And Soulstorm wasn't developed by them btw. It was made by Iron Lore, the guys who made Titan Quest.

Yes, but Relic was responsible for patching. And if you've been over to the RelicNews forums, I'd say the consensus was that they handled it extremely poorly.

I don't think Relic cares about SS anymore, it was done by the dieing/ now dead Iron Lore and it was rate pretty bad because it was made on too old of an engine, so why would they bother patching it anymore. I just want them to make DOW 2 at the same quality as CoH and I'll be happy. If they say multiplayer is going to be free, its going to be free, they would get in so much touble if it ended up it wasn't, so they won't pull that.

Its going to be great, beside I buy most of my games for SP like SINS, only a few games like TF2 and Battlefield2 are one I get for multi.

Gamespot and IGN are idiots for screwing up the E3 interviews with Relic. The gamespot one was some console fanboy interviewer that knew nothing about RTS, its so sad.

There is very few people who review games left who know anything about a PC.

And "Low Quality Xbox Games for Windows LIVE! Money Train Edition" is the worst crap ever for PC gaming.
