Here, you can discuss your dream mod, since my Star Fox idea was...over my head.

So, dream away!

It's a crazy mod Idea I was thinking about today, I was playing the advent, swarming a TEC Fleet with fighters and Halycons, when I realised how the fight looked similer to the fight in Star Fox: Assualt, And that got me thinking even more.

I mean, Sins is a Space combat game, and almost already has everything needed to create said Star Fox mod.

We could base it off the 64 game, or Assualt itself. Scale up the fighter sizes, and add two ultimate ships and the like. My ideas for features would be...

-Two new playable races: Corneria and Venom.

-More of a focus on fighters: Upsize their size, and add a bit more lethality to them.

-Being able to create memorable battles, with maybe some ripped lines and voices from the games themselves!

-Includes many bosses as playable ships, maybe even Andross himself!

-Build, (Or Summon) the Great Fox, and the legendary Star Fox Team, (The old one, I mean, A young Peppy really beats out Krystal.)

-And on the Opposite side, the Venom forces can 'Summon" Star Wolf.

A great idea, no? Im currently reading up and learning how to mod, so it might eb awhile before this gets started, but when it does, It'll be way cool.

That would be awesome! But than aagin the Star Foz team would have to be powerful enought to take on an entire fleet, so would wolf..

Heh, not crazy...(Deja Vu to all of you evil masterminds out there)

But really, just imagine being able to control the Cornerian Navy, and save the Lylat System.

Mostly, for the people who have played the game, It'll bring back Nostalgia. And those who haven't, well, It'll get you introduced to a great Space Genre.

Another feature would be dedicated Carrier ships. I mean, they have no weapons whatsoever, just Buffs for their fighters, say for instance, a Combo of the TEC fighter damage/defence buff, the Advent added fighter buff, and a speed buff-(Evading enemy fire), with an ultimate of limited time double firepower or something like that.

And referring to the above post, said Star Fox/Wolf teams wont be as strong as a Novalith Cannon, they'll just be really powerful enough to merit something like that.
How I was thinking how to do that, create the Great Fox as a Capitol ship you have to research, and then you build it, and it comes with team Star Fox.

i have a map done as well as some dedicated planet types, so it's more like a minimod

And, another idea, which I'm very surprised seeing all of the "Homeworld 1-2" Thre hasn't been a Homeworld TC yet...

I'm sure converting Hiigaran and Vagyr models wouldnt be that hard, just extract/insert, right?

No no no no NOOOOO!!!! Don't be discouraged...I'm a pessimist..see DEC's General Changes Mod thread to see how negative I am by nature... I don't want to discourage anyone from trying. America didn't become "good" by giving up, but by trials. If you fail you fail, but you at least tried, which means the next time, you'll be more prepared, more logical...Don't become too logical now..if you do then you end up like me... :p 


I certainly think that this is worth a shot, and it would be nice to see how uber powerful ST's impact the gameplay, I really would like to see it..

Hey...you changed the title...but why?? you don't need to be worried about it, you can still do this, and it will turn out well, that is if you try, but only if you try.

Edit: your post just showed up. Well thats fine. I'm here just about all the time, If you need something, I'll be glad to help. Hey they best way to learn to mod is to start. I learned that, and its certainly the way things work.

If you want something done right, do it yourself;If you want something learned right, you've got to expirement yourself.

Thats an easy one Homeworld2 style gameplay (different story/ships/context) combined with the scale and depth of SoaSE to form an RTS\4X game, and a MASSIVE single player campaign.

If it had a Babylon5 theme I wouldn't object  :CONGRAT:

Yeah. What we could do, Is just rip the Homeworld Meshes/skins, and attach them to a new race, make it selectable, and play on. Add some custom research, custom buildings, and you got yourself a race.

ANd, I think there's a B5 mod going around here....somewhere...

An Honor Harrington mod, if you've read the books you know what I'm talking about. Those books were what originally lead me to Sins.

Galactic sized maps with nomadic civilizations, ships that can build other ships, expand logistics, increase populations. They will either to be able to orbit a planet and trade peacefully with it, or destroy it and take supplies/slaves.

Space elevators and rings, Dyson Spheres, Standford toruses.

A massive, in-game ship creator for the expansion. One that makes Spore's Creature Creator look like crap. Something where not even the sky is the limit, where you can design dreadnoughts the size of planets or drones the size of a fighter.

I mean, it wouldn't be a race to planet-sized ships, because they would be horribly expensive and take a very long time to build.

Also, this would put a lot of modders out of a job, because the players of a game could just design themselves a Star Destroyer or an Enterprise. Expensive ones, yes, but Star Destroyers aren't cheap.

Anyways, that would be simply awesome with players being able to build their fleet the way they want it. Of course, parts of ships would be different based on Advent, Vasari, or TEC, so ships wouldn't be completely cookie-cutter, and races would be different in terms of available components, with Advent having advanced shield generators, TEC having brick-like hulls, and Vasari having powerful weapons systems.

Don't like that your Kol has those four beams? Replace them with a massive spinal mass driver, a-la Halo.

Revelation shields not powerful enough? Add another couple of shield generators,and replace those stupid frontal beams with less energy-intensive anti-fighter pulse lasers.

Vulkoras doesn't have enough phase missiles? Add a couple of missile pods to the top for some added punch at added price.

Angry that the TEC has no missile capital? Build it yourself! Incendiary warheads, cluster charges for that splash damage effect we all love, some fast-firing anti-fighter missiles to knock down those pesky fighters and bombers, full 360 degree arcs of fiery missile doom.

Advent linebreakers for those TEC defensive walls. Lots of forward firepower, some on the sides as well, no strikecraft. Plasma cannons, spinal beam cannon, high-energy lasers.

Basically, the possibilities would be endless.

The ability to put components on ships. Much more variety in what to build on a planet, including galactic wonders. Would love to see a Honorverse, B5, Robotech, (with transformation abilities) and battletech mod. Wish the ST & Warhammer 40k mod would hurry.

Fix some of the meshes and fix the LRFs without nerfing them. A couple new ship-classes wouldn't hurt.
