Sins Q's

Some basic Q's from a noob

OK, so maybe I'm not a TOTAL noob, but there are some aspects of Sins I just dont understand. First off, just how much more damage does a unit thats good vs X do to unit X? 200% What it its shooting at unit Y? Will it do 100% or less?

Second, whats with culture? Last game I played a planet with 12 culture points spread its culture through an asteroid belt into an enemy planet with something like 5 culture. I would assume that since 12 is bigger than 5 it should go through the enemy planet and begin to damage alligence. Not so! What gives? 12 is even more than twice 5, so dont tell me you need THREE times the culture to begin to damage alligence!

Thrid, I heard somewhere that Vasari hull points are "worth more" than other races. That the Vasari have some sortof natural damage reduction or armor buffs or something. Is this true?

Thanks for your time, I look foreward to your replies!

To your second question: You sure the enemy didn't have 'wall of faith' (?) Adds 20% Culture Resillience. 25 is more than 12.

1st. Depends. Each unit does a certain type of damage, and each unit has a certain type of armor. Each damage type has strengths and weaknesses. There are charts somewhere, but I don't remember exactly where.

2nd. Culture also has lots of aspects. As culture spreads through gravity wells, culture spread rate is diminished. Capital ships can reduce the spread of enemy culture to a gravity well, but don't spread their own culture.
The Advent get the Wall of Faith upgrade that increases resistance to enemy culture, the TEC gets an upgrade to reduce the spread rate loss from other gravity wells, while the Vasari get an upgrade to increase the effectiveness of capital ships at preventing the spread of enemy culture.

Adds 20% Culture Resillience. 25 is more than 12.
End of quote

I'm not to sure on exactly how it works, but I don't think that's it. Otherwise it would be nearly impossible to push back Advent culture.

3rd. Never heard that before.

To the culture question:

Culture rates are much faster when they are just coming out of the planet that the culture center is in. If your culture centers are very far away then they will have a very hard time pushing back culture in an enemy planet that has culture centers in it.

Heres a little tip:

Ingame, look over the research tables of all 3 classes, read that the bonus is and read the text, they will help you understand exactly what your upgrading.
