Saga of the Seven Suns Mod?

Will it work?

Kevin J. Anderson's epic space series ,The Saga of the Seven Suns , has quite a few space craft that could become a mod. For any of you that have read the series, the TEC is simular to the EDF, and the Advent to the Ildaran Solar Navy. Other races could be the Faeros, Hydrogues, Klikiss, Roamers, Verdani, and Wentals. I am just tossing the idea out into the community.

I just signed up to this forum so i could say i have read those books and think it would be an amazing idea to make a sins mod for them.

Honour and duty? This isn't some strange romantic soldiering fantasy out of a 19th centuary novel. This is time consuing talented work usualy done with out any benifit to the author other than the sense of acomplishment.


(I've always wanted to say something like that).

This is one of the best sci-fi saga's ever. What a MOD this would make.

As a avid reader and gamer, I have to agree that "Saga of Seven suns" would indeed make a awesome mod.

First to clarify some stuff;
1,Do you wish to make the Ancient war of the Present?
2,Ildaran's, Hydrogues, Faeros, and Verdani,all only have 1 main type of ship
3,Wentals can not move themselves!!!, I suggest in this case that instead of a multiplayer mod do a RPS (Story)line.
4, What are you gonna do about the faeros? They live in suns, which if you were to make this as a mod, would be totally out of proportion.
5, You have to make Gas giants habitable, + you have to be able to build inside them and see inside them.
6,Ildaran's work in Septas, Cohorts, and Maniples, of warliners (Which are by the way the equivalent of a Kodiak[give or take]) How do you plan to get minimum 343 Warliners at a cost and level that both the player and the game can cope with?
7,I will be working on a mod of sins based of Saga but the mods production is some time away(In the mean time I will be happy to help anyone out).

Ok, here it goes...

1. the present
2. Ildarans also have Cutters and Streamers, with other generic undefined ships. Do the Verdani orb things in book 7 count as ships? But yes, the Ildarans only have 1 type of ship.
3 and 4. Maybe the playable races would be limited to the Confederation (hope I didnt spoil anything), the Hansa, the Ildarans, and the Klikiss. The Faeros and Hydrouges could be pirites/planet defenders, and the Wentals are mine able recources to use againts them.
5. Maybe gas giants can have empty skymines around it, that you can capture like astroids.
6. I think those numbers are only ceremonial, and not always followed.

I take it the confedration would include the verdani ships as well as the roamer ones?

This mod could have loads of oppurtunities for planetary bonuses and such but would probably require more planet types. ie. tree ships could only be built from forest type planets.

finished 7 there the other day. It's a good idea but some people Anderson did'nt go into much or have a diversity of ships.

How about this:
The EDF would have Juggernauts (cap ship) , Mantas, Thunderheads, and gunships all for normal price; and be abble to build a super-expensive warliner. The Confederation could have Roamer warships and treeships (cap) for cheap and Juggernauts (cap) and Mantas for a higher price/research lvl.

Would this mod just be the two factions (confederation and EDF) then? But i suppose it would be hard to conjure up a third faction as none of the others have much diversity in ships (except maybe Ildirans).

You couldn't do much worse than seven suns when it comes to literature in general and space operas in specific..
It reads like the fevered imaginings of a 12 year old..

Try Alastair Reynolds or something..

Has anyone thought of doing a mod of "Revelation Space"
(Not I mean the series and the times e.g; conjoiners, demacharts (I know its spellings wrong) and Ultras?)

I looked up your Revelation Space I don't think it would make a good mod.
