Question about Advent carrier cruiser

So, the manual says that the Drone host has unmanned strike craft, they are being piloted remotely from the Drone host.  My question is, if the drone host is destroyed, do the strike craft stop working right then and there?  Now, I haven't tested or tried it in game because I just fight and don't notice it, but my gut feeling tells me that they don't get destroyed.  If they don't, shouldn't they...or at least stop moving and firing?

No, but the strike craft will recieve health loss every second or so. So after the host is dead, the craft will soon die but it takes around 15 seconds or so. *Estimate*

The craft will run out of Air, Fuel, and Power and thus cannot survive long.

Yeah - that's an interesting point though. It might make a different sort of balance to the Advent strike craft. They have higher numbers of strike craft per squadron, but when their host goes down, they die right away since they no longer have any telepathic pilots giving them orders.

I like that.

Probably something like the lingering presence (Or whatever it's called) upgrade the Advent scout has.

More than likely there is a centralized computer onboard the strikecraft. Without order updates the fighters go inert.

EXACT CODE FROM 1.05

decayWithoutOwnerRate 0.010000

It dies at a rate of 1% per second.

Happens to other races as well. I killed off a TEC carrier today and watched his fighters die off. Your cap ship doesn't get experience for the die-off, however.

I would expect it to happen to TEC and Vasari (BECAUSE THEY ARE MANNED)but it SHOULDN'T happen with Advent. The fighters/bombers should just be dead in space once the host dies since the people controlling the fighters/bombers are ON the DRONE HOST.

So, shouldn't this be looked into?

I think it'd be nice from a fluff sense and I don't think it'd be hard to change. That being said, I'm guessing the devs have their hands full with beta feedback concerning the broken strikecraft squads etc. and are more concerned with fixing them right now.

That being said, count my vote if it matters as liking the idea that as a tiny counterbalance to Advent having more strikecraft, and unmanned to boot, to have them decay faster than the other races once their host has died.
