Things you would like to see Added/changed when official 1.1 release

I have seen a lot of threads of bugs and things people want explored/added.

Here I would like people to say what they want to be added to sins.

This isn't an expansion thread so these are mostly major gameplay, ui and other types of tweaks with sins we want added/changed with the next patch release.

I looked around, and having found no other topic quite like this, decided it was safe to do so.

the new black market quick-menu:

At first, I didn't realize what that button with the 250 on it and the icon of a player meant, and since hovering other it brought up no information window until i clicked it and realized that was a bounty button i didn't have a clue.

An info window that pops up when you hover your mouse over something would suffice with the bounty thing

Also, for that quick-use interface, some arrows to scroll through the players you want to place bounty on would be nice, instead of it being on the person who is going to get raided.

_____________

Allowing others on ICO to download the custom map if they join your game and you are hosting a custom would be nice.

Working with the NAT encoding you use for hosting because even though I port forward and everything with my router, unless i DMZ I cannot host.

I still get the *IP is not visible* with/without alloy on, etc.

A customizable (and optional) filter which is on by default for online chat would be GREAT because everyone knows that little johnny is going to get online and read things from players with low self-esteems that his parents wouldn't want their kid to read about for 10+ years.

How about a star by someone's name that can host (while in the lobby and stuff like that)

(Maybe an option to display to others that you CAN host?)
____________

I would also like to stop having custom maps get deleted with patch updates, Recorded games become invalid (same with save games) etc.

Why not triggers in maps when you mapmake? Like 'If Pirate Base gets destroyed, and there is another base, send two cutthroats in every minute for five minutes'

Allowing you to choose your solar system in the game lobby would be cool too.

"Not TEC", "Not Advent", and "Not Vasari", added to the race selection. I've wanted that for many games.

that's when u call in the mod teams

New features are highly unlikely to be added to the patch, especially those that would require an engine re-write such as a good chunk of these :P

I can only think of the triggers as something that would require an engine rewrite.

I would like more hardcodes removed, such as the sounds limit. They did a great job of removing the cap ship limit, now lets take out the sounds limit, and a list of all the limits would be nice, and would help out the modders.

DANMAN

I second Danman with the removal of other hardcode limits. Top priority is the sound cap as it unfortunately forces modders who wish to add unique sounds to their mods to decimate sounds which are in the vanilla game, and that's not a solution.

And yes, a list of other hardcode limits would be great, for example we don't even know if there is a limit on the number of string entries.

Oddly, I found it very intuitive.

I find it to be fairly inefficient, but I posted that on the other thread anyhow.

So that was a bounty indicator? Nice. Even more visual cues without needing to review all the messages I missed after listening to battle chatter. Too bad it'll clutter already small screen real estates of those playing at 1024 x 768.

That gave me another idea - Miniaturizing that menu

LOL well. Maybe an orange arrow thing like you have to change names and such on the window so you can close it without having to go into the menu to close it.

I'm somewhat concerned about the balance of the new light carriers.

They got a buff, which was neeeded, IMO. However, the significant increase in their survivability leaves really no good counter to carrier cruisers. Technically, light frigates are the best counter, but with carrier cruisers as tough as they are now, your light frigs will not survive long enough in an environment littered with LRFs to do any appreciable damage. I'm concerned that carrier spam might end up being a winning strat for this reason.

I noticed this because the AI on Unfair tends to build prodigious numbers of them. I don't propose that we nerf the carriers, though. I propose that we buff the firepower and survivability of light frigates, which is something else that's long over due.

So carrier spam might be a winning strat because LRMs can take down light frigates quickly? LOL

Not a bad idea but I wonder why a player who is so particular about the race he plays wouldn't just pick the one he wants. I guess it would make sense for folks who don't care which of two races they play.

I think he means the combination of those light cruisers.
