I'm moving to 1.09, but will probably hesitate to do any mp until I get more system RAM. A few times I lagged others were a few times too many for me; people have no patience sometimes Mind you it was always on all Fast settings that there were problems... on normal ship speed I was just fine. Problem is... too many ADD types out there will only play fast games now... so my time is better spent playing other games or offline sp (much as I love online mp)

Well I moved up and I can say I don't regret it, faster ships blowing up. Better strike craft. One thing that still annoys me is how the A.I always has a grudge against the player to the point of ignoring an enemy in the same system of their just to go for you.

Ive got 1.09 installed. Its 11pm GMT Sunday and theres 14 players on (2 in-lobby , 12 in-game ) Its not really peak time for everyone, but when it was just 1.05 , there would be atleast 80 - 100 players at this time with atleast 1 game to join instantly.

Can anyone report on the number of players at peak time in 1.05?

I wouldn't go to 1.09 for multiplayer as the only reason to go. I played several games with Stiletto on LAN and we still desync constantly. Just last game about an hour into play he was like, "Watch out for the Advent in our home system!", and I was like "What Advent?" So I looked at his screen and sure enough a massive fleet. On mine, empty space. There are some improvements that make single player fun, so I would get it for that reason.

I am very disappointed about the multiplayer desync issues. Multiplayer is the principle reason I bought the game, and it's frustrating to find that these networking issues still exist. I'm sure that Stardock appreciates the users going to lengths to involve the community to beta-test their software for free, but it was a sad day when game companies started releasing less-than-stable products to the community all to make a deadline. Patches should be for minor bug fixes, not major networking issues. I give them a 2 desynched fists out of 5.

Its a beta not a patch. And they make it very clear (to me it was at least) that it is not stable, and not polished. Furthermore, that is you don't like playing buggy software, DONT download it. I read that and choose not to download.

You apparently ignored their warning, or you decided to complain anyway. In either case I would suggest that's your bad, not Stardock's.

im on 1.09 and the most i've seen so far is around 30people online. btw the beta is fantastic. i don't have to wait anymore for a game, i can make one. i just need players to join

I can say for sure that if you want to play MP, things are not looking good right now. I got 1.09 and there is never anyone online. Like zero people. Out of the 10-15 that are online at any given time, most are in games already, and the others are AFK. I've started small games and waited a half hour, having nobody join the entire time.

My memory of 1.05 was that there were usually only about 100 people online. I figure you can subtract some from the number for those like me who tried to move up, and I'm betting that neither place is really working well right now.

We need this update to be mandatory, and happen soon, before people just give up on this game altogether. I'm sad -I used to like MP games, and now I can't play them at all!

At KingBingo: The issues I was describing began before the beta and have yet to be resolved. I downloaded the beta hoping that the multiplayer desync issues were fixed, but alas. I merely stated that I do not believe that game companies should release a product which contains major bugs to be fixed; I expect minor ones. I continue to patch faithfully, and hope.

Where is this patch 1.09? I checked the download page and all I see is 1.05. Is 1.09 part of the 1.1 beta ?

1.09 is the beta 1.1. You need Impulse and need to enable "Show Pre-Release versions in the Stardock icon menu to get it.

I moved to 1.1 beta, because I ran into the split game with my friend that wouldn't fix itself. We could trade cash and I could only see him move 1 of his ships, everything else was done by the AI in my game. He saw something similar but in reverse. The AI was controlling me, could not see MY ship movements, and we could trade credits, metal, and crystals.

Of course less players are in the beta playing. The majority of them are forum goers that know how to access the beta. Most the games players don't even know there IS a beta.

I will be sticking with 1.05 until I hear that a better version exists and works better for LAN parties. I have held 4 parties that have included soase and have found my own ways of getting around the problems.

I will be looking for more maps that allow for 8 players and have fewer than 25 planets. These are my thoughts (probably not original)for using 1.05

1) All machines should have at least 1 gb ram
2) The processors should not be too dissimilar. I held 4 player LAN yesterday with all the processors between P4 2.4 and P4 2.7 ghz and had no sync problems.
3) No more than 25 planets.
4) Small fleets, pirates off
5) 8 players is fine. Cooperative play 4x4 against computer is fun and fairly short. Games are finished in less than 2 hours.

I realize my requirements are a bit unique. But 1.05 is working fine for my needs.

Try my mappack , has dozens of 4v4 and 3v3 small single star maps perfect for human v human lan games aswell as online.

Actually, I downloaded your pack this Am and was checking it out. Looks good, but too many planets for my use. At the same time, I can use galaxy forge and just delete some planets and objects and have a very usable set up for my short games. I will try that out with a few of your MAPs. Thanks for your good work!
