Silly Nooby question

Tell you what, the game manual blows when it comes to answering some simple questions...

How on earth you you travel from one star system to another? do you have to research a high level technology or something? I have captured my home star system but I have fleet after fleet of enemy ships shooting in and i can't get back at them!

Someone help me....

To travel from star to star, you have to have researched the ability "Long Range Jumps" or it's equivalent name depending on culture. It's infocard description will tell you that it allows you to perform interstellar jumps. I believe all of the technologies that allow this are found within the Civilian Research tree.

After researching this ability, you move your fleet to the star of the current system in which it resides. Select all of your units you wish to move, and then click on the star where you want them to go - and they will. You may have to play around with the camera zoom to locate other star systems.

You can also use your home star as a choke point, as all enemy fleets have to arrive directly at the star in question if they traveled to your system from another star.

Hope it helps.

Some maps also use wormholes to travel between systems, though that's another tech that has to be researched.

Yeah I had the same question, I knwe about the stars and stuff but not about the research.

Or you can just do the old fashion phase lane hopping way. It would take a while, of course. Ummm you don't like to build scouts do you? You probably didn't see the possible phase lanes.

thanks for the invaluable help people. Finally my captial ships can go on the offensive :D

@RoyalRook: On the map I am playing, there are no phase lanes between the different star systems.

Stars don't show they're phase lanes as they're all interconnected. A few maps don't have ways to reach the system's star, but those generally have wormholes.

The "Derelict" map (8th small map, v1.05) is unique, in that, it does have phase lanes connecting 3 Stars (by outer planets). A lone 4th Star system is unconnected, as usual.

The "Foreign Invasion" meduim size map has a small group of outlieing, resource-rich planets that can only be reached by 2 wormholes. This small system is unique since it doesn't have a Star. Stars can always be reached from your local Star (after you've researched Long Range Jumps). Version 1.05's "Ancient Gifts" map is also unique.

To see entire maps quickly: start the map, then "surrender", and "keep playing", and you can instantly see the entire layout.
