I tried to help you out but as soon as I put them in .obj format and loaded them up into XSI, it crashed on me. Sketchup models aren't that stable; thats why they aren't used in any mods.

Maybe you can export them in google sketchup as 3d model.

You might have to do some things to make the SketchUp model export correctly, like explode faces, and make sure the geometry is correctly exported. I unfortunately don't have all the details, but I know its possible. We convert Sketchup to 3DS format in the lab and have it work with, so there should be a way.

Nice Ships... I'm not familiar with this so I can't help you with the problem but when you do figure it out you should consider teaming up with dolynick and his Stargate Ancients mod. He has the coding done but doesn't have any ships and is using stock ships... any ships you have would greatly improve the mod... you also have a lot of Tau'ri ships, maybe he would add that to the mod, i don't know, you'd have to talk to him.

Just a suggestion,
Good luck with your problem

Looks like the Google Sketchup Pro v6 can export to XSI, and 3DS (among others).

But it is also $495

I guess you could DL the 8hr free trial version (that only counts the time you are running the program) and use it just to convert to XSI or whatever?

Here's what you do, and it works.

Open your model in Sketchup. Click File > Export > Export 3D Model. Export your model as a Google Earth 4 .kmz file. Once it's exported, find your file and change the extension to .zip. Open the .zip file, go into the "Models" folder and pull out the .dae file. Import the .dae file into XSI, and you're all set.

You may have to clean it up a bit, but for most models, they come out fairly intact.
