Need vasari help

Ive read some of the strategy posts and ive noticed just about all of them are for tec. Im relativly new to multiplayer and atm and getting severely owned. Im wondering if anyone who is used to playing as vasari could give me some advice about playing online.

My current strategy is to immediatly get a cap ship structer then colonizer building, get the metal/crystal things built, and then que 3 skirmishers. Then i just try to expand as much as i can while at the same time getting my economy set up. After that i may build up my military a little to prepare for any fighting i may have to do against other players in the star (if need be). Skipping all the rest, during late-game (when i rarly make it there) my military (which was mostly built in late gam) is usally built up by enforcers mainly, but also a good number of subverters and overseers, and then a few assalints and destructers. And maybe a colonizer and some other cap ship.

Any help as to what im doing wrong, or just any other strategy for vasari would be greatly appreciated :)

That will get you killed.

Keep these two simple things in mind and you'll win:
1) Fleet first, expanding second and economy comes third
2) Don't wait for the fight to come to you, bring the fight to your enemy

Everyone has their own style of playing now here's what I would recommend you:
When you start the game build a cap. ship factory first than order your 2nd construction frig. to build asteroid mines (1st crystal one than metal)
While you do that build 2 or 3 scouts and set them to auto-explore.
After your cap. ship factory is completed build a Jarasul class Evacuetor and put the colonizing abillitie as your first one, then send it to an asteroid nearby your HW (in most cases there is an asteroid next to you HW)which your scout discovered.
After your construction ships finish building the mines set them to build 2 millitary labs (can't remember the name now) and build a civilan lab on that asteroid after your Jarasul finish it's colonisation.
O yea I forgot after building those mines and a Jarasul upgrade your HW's population to maximum do that to your asteroid to as soon as you finish building a Civilan lab and mines.
Then upgrade your asteroids logistic cap. and build another civilan lab than reearch volcnainc and ice colonization you will need it.

Well my hand hurts so I can't write anymore for now lol

I hope this helps.

as the vasari you want to focus on collecting resources because you can trade them in at the black market. so you want to aim for all of the ice and volcaninc planets early in the game. but you still have to make sure you upgrade the civilian infastructure on planets that you colonize because you don't want them to become a burden. and use your scouts ability to capture nutral mines they can change the whole game if you capture them early enough. and thats pretty much what you want to do as the vasari. don't focus on economy but collecting resources.

Unbelievable, I sent so long looking for how Vasari capture neutral mines. Never occurred to me to look at the scouts!

The Vassari normally has to wait longer to obtain the trade posts, so build your first cap ship, build a bunch of frigs, and get the initial hull reinforcement, metallurgy, and weapon upgrades. Than expand to nearby asteroids and planets. Make sure your scouts checked them out. Some might have 10 or more militants which you'll need to combat with more frigs.

Here's my beginning: (everyone has one and is different)

cap yard
cap ship
crystal, than metal extractors
2 scout frigs
weapons lab
sell 100 or 200 metal depending on how many you have (not too much, you need combat frigs)
queue hull reinforcement research
once the cap ship is built, take over the first asteroid
once conquered, do population cap (so you're not negative on tax)
go from there... This it's always different.

in this game there is no set sequence of moves that will bring you victory...just an opening move that gets you an advantage.

similar to chess

my opening chess move:pawn in front of king foreward 2, get bishop out.

most of the sins starts involve a cap ship and an asteroid

mine is

cap factory
evacuator (vassari) mothership (advent)
2-3 scouts, auto search
sell 100 metal, buy 100 crystal
upgrade home planet civilian infrastructure
have cap ship get colonize and colonize nearest colonizable planet with low garrison

Vasari tips?

As mentioned:
1. Use scouts to get neutrals
2. Get Assailants out early and as quick as possible. You shouldn't be making any light frigates as Vasari unless your opponent is spamming carriers.
3. The more you can tech phase missiles, the better
4. Get some fighters to support your assailants when possible

That's a very vague guideline, as giving you specific advice is rather difficult. Check around the forums. I guarantee you the info you're looking for is out there.

Not at all. Chess is 100% deterministic, with only two possible outcomes: Either one side has a winning strategy, or the game will end in a draw. Which one it is is still undecided, but the number are getting crunched fast. In a few years we'll have an answer.

Sins however is nondeterministic: Starting positions, random resource mines, trashmobs", random maps, network latency and so on.

Anyhow, the key to success if building a big fleet fast. It feels lie 99% of the players don't build a fleet early enough. They'll get swarmed by players that do build a fleet. What point is #1 economy rating if you don't have a fleet? Sure, you can build ships, but you'll only feed your enemies capital ship that will sit right next to the frigate factory, picking up everything that gets built.

I've won plenty of games as Vasari where my enemy went for economy without having a fleet.

Fleet, FLEET, _FLEET_!!111!!one!!eleven!!!!
The most important thing.
