Wrong Player Color

After I downloaded the beta, my color in-game is always green. Both my name and my symbol are still the same as they always are. No matter what color I pick, in game it's always green.. This is by no means a top-priority bug, but it is annoying (especially since the shade of green is ugly).

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I did a search as well as went through several pages and didn't find anything about player colors.

I think it's a poor implementation of a color system based on allies and enemies. They should just get rid of it or make it optional. I like seeing the colors of my enemies so I can more quickly identify whose fleet is closer.

The team colors option seems to be on by default in the new version, you can toggle it back off in the options.

Mess with the options more. ;)

I hadn't even noticed that was on, and I usually do a thorough customization of options each time I update, reinstall, or buy a game.

Now I feel stupid.

I feel like I was cheating by seeing it on the forums before I downloaded the patch.

I noticed this myself when I played my first 1.09 game. Personally, I think it should be off by default, not on. It's counter-intuitive to have something like that on when in most other games produced (including pre-beta 1.1) it's off by default.

By this same token and on the same screen, when you turn on cinematics (which is off by default...why?!) it turns off all the checked features in that column, which shouldn't happen. Each option should be independently switched unless directly nulled/activated by the one you change.

Cinematic mode is simply a way to change a bunch of options at once. I generally prefer it off when I'm managing my empire, which is more or less constantly.

Also, new players might get confused with so much info off by default.

I like most everything on because...well...I like shinies... I didn't buy a 9600GT to have everything turned off... I coulda stuck with my 7800 for that. ;)

By the by, if what you say is correct, then it's seriously counter-intuitive, because when I turned Cinematics ON, it turned everything already checked OFF. lol

Not really. it turns off the stuff that provides gameplay info, but makes it less pretty to watch.

I noticed that too, however, the idea of an option never occurred to me. DOH!

Oooooohhh I gotcha... Still...When I turn a feature on, I don't expect a whole row of things I turned on to turn off. ;) heh

Another color question: Is it just me, or my computer, or is there no longer any player colors on the ships themselves in the beta? I could have sworn the Advent ships looked great with my purple player color highlights???
That's in one of the option tabs too, called something like "Show mesh colors" :P

i have soo much skill, i immediately knew team colors was on as soon as the beta loaded.

jk, it took 2 games, and my brother pointing it out, for me to realize it. :SNIFF!: ;p

9600gt? shoulda just got a 8800 gtx or ultra far superior performance.

Anyways on topic...It took me 2 games to realize why I was always green and everythign was always red....then I felt dumb I had thought it was a new change with the patch since I was being lazy and had just left all the settings except resolution on default when I installed beta.

The very first thing I do when installing/updating anything I use is to find the options and mess with them.

Yeah, you never know when you'll see a "Format system drive when game finished" option that's defaulted to ON.

Normally I do that. But I hardly played my copy of Sins until a week ago. (had it since day it came out) All this is World of Warcrafts fault. But now that I am officially retired (sold the account) after 4 years of play. I find I have much more free time and dont feel an obligation to sit at my computer to justify a monthly fee's usage.

That said, I have had more fun playing my 17 games of sins so far this week then I can recall having at my computer in a long time. ;) Well that and some old fashioned Neverwinter Nights 1 action also.
