Simple Request..maybe?

Maybe its just a personal thing..I love this game, I especially love all the hard work people are putting into some most excellent mods!! I pretty much just play single player and I love really large maps and long games..that sometimes take a few days to finish lol

All the races are really cool with great and varying abilities..however I simply don't like the TEC ships..I can kinda see where they were coming from making them the way they are  (I don't think they 'skimmped out' at all), however there has to exists some better models out there to replace them with.

Hence my request..just a replacement to the TEC ships..I am trying to learn how to do some modding but most of it is over my head and its going slowly (I have downloaded like every guide and have been going through them).

Maybe someone is working on a project or has done a mod along these lines for themselves.

And I mean not just making a 'mod' but permenatly replaceing the models of the TEC ships

Has anyone considered doing this? Can it be done?

It can certainly be done, but modeling and texturing new ships is a lot of work and would take quite a long time (ie, months) for a single modeler.

I believe IC have considered it - coming out in 1.1 patch (may not be NEW ships per se, but improved models/textures etc...)

Not really. The ships didn't change much, it's mostly the fighters and bombers that got their models changed.

Which didn't even make sense, the advent strike craft were awesome, now they look like they came from Homeworld lol.


And as far as someone replacing an ENTIRE race of ships, that would be one of the most pointless things to do ever. I mean if you going to go to the trouble of designing and building ALL those assets and at the end they just going to REPLACE the current ships?!? huh?

Aractain - yes actually; but I'm not talking about making brand new ships..there must be some models around that could replace the TEC ones...

But even finding some already made models, I guess you would still need to match weapons/weapons mounts..and other effects...not to mention textures, which seems to be missing on most 3d models I do find
