Will "Sins" run on my computer

I am not usually a PC gamer, but I do love Empire Buildres and saw the stellar (pun intended) reviews for Sins of a Solar Empire and thought I'd check it out. Unfortunately, my computer does not quite meet the minimum requirements to run the game. My system stats are as follows...

Windows XP SP2 (check)
AMD Athlon(tm)XP2000+ (graphics card?)
1.53Ghz (fail)
768MB Ram (check)
36GB of free space on HD (check)

My system falls about .25Ghz short of the necessary processing power to run the game.

I know I can always pick up the game, keep the reciept, and see for myself if it runs or not, but I was hoping someone here could save me the trouble by telling me whether or not the lack of processing power will keep the game from running properly. Someone once told me Ram matters way more than processing power, is this true? If so, will my extra Ram compensate for my lack or processing power?

You could also download the demo to see if it runs, so you don't have to worry about returning if it doesn't

Trying out the demo is always the best way when you're unsure from your system specs especially when you dip a little below reqs.

I can say that with the CPU and the ram, you won't be able to play the bigger maps easily. As is common with these types of games, the larger the maps and the more units in play, the harder the AI cranks.

But on the bright side, the 1.1 patch that's in public beta testing right now is adding more optimizations for the game to make it smoother on lower end systems, so if you can get the demo to run acceptably to your liking, chances are once 1.1 rolls out it will run a bit better than that

You don't mention what your video card is (the one you labeled as such is your CPU). In any case, the simplest answer is to just try the demo, and see how it runs for yourself.

The demo runs fine thus far and if its campaigns suck me in I'll take the plunge and buy the game.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'campaigns', but the full release doesn't have any story-driven campaign, it's built as a sandbox

Isn't the expansion supposed to have a campaign? Or is that just a rumor?

It's still very fun, and the full game has a lot of options the demo doesn't.

Isn't the expansion supposed to have a campaign? Or is that just a rumor?

I consider it a rumor that's most likely true.

It's not really a rumor, Craig posted not long after the expansion was announced that they did commit to creating a campaign. But there was no official announcement and no details.

So, really, it's not really a rumor but we don't know anything about it either.

Well this game is too similar the old Conquest Frontier Wars in many ways so I'm hopeing the story line will be as good when they add it on.
