Still get Out of memory with 1.5

Hi everyone,

I'm very new to Sins having only played 2 games. When I play I constantly get a "your computer is running out of memory error", which I can ignore for a while but now it's at the point in a game where is crashes out without warning, no error message, it just switches to the desktop and the game is gone.

I've read the 1.5 patch information and it is supposed to resolve an out of memory crash error on Vista. I installed this patch before playing my first game anyway because I always check for latest patches in games I buy at the time I install them.

Has anybody any idea of how to resolve the error? I have Vista 64bit, 2 Gb RAM and an Nvidia 8800GTX. Everything is patched to the latest versions including Mobo, GFX card and Vista.

cheers

Lee

How big is your pagefile? A good rule of thumb I've been following for years is to have one's pagefile set to at least 2.5 X the amount of installed system RAM.

Get more RAM thats the problem, cus vista requires 2 gigs and u only have 2 so there is non left for your games and other aplications. The best thing to do is to bite the bullet and pay to have the max amount of RAM put in your comp, with is 8Gigs.

With all due respect Kaltes, you are wrong.

Leeram, how many processes to you have running? Do you have any apps running besides the game? Are you absolutely certain your ram is fully functional?

Restart your computer, wait five minutes. ctrl+shift+esc (brings up task manager). look at the bottom right of the task manager where it says Physical Memory. Report the percentage.

If you have low hard-drive space, this can also be attributed to errors with system resources like hard-drive memory, being low.

If you are unsure of how to mess with the pagefile of the system, freeing up space will allow Windows to auto-adjust it for you (if it is set to let the system manage it).

If the above answers fail, try to free up at least 15% of your TOTAL hard drive space on the operating systems drive (usually the "C:" drive).

Computers act very strangely when they fall below 15%, and your error may be the system asking for a little help.

I have a 500 gb hd. my sysytem tells me I have 461 total size with 319 available. How much pagefile should I set? In control panel it recommends 1509. any help appreciated.
I have 1 gb ram (system says .98 ram).

awolfhk,

here's quoting myself from my first reply to this thread....

thanks Monk. Thats all fine, but I didn't explain well that I suck in math....I have 1 gigabyte ram, I need 2.5 Gigabytes for the pagefile. The pagefile measures in megabytes, not gigabytes, so how many megabytes to have 2.5 gig of pgefile, thanks
