strategy for gaian crescent (2playermap) vs AI ?

Hi, i play this map on hard and beta V1.09

On this little map u start with negative income. So u have to build up your planet fast. Because of that u will have a very slow builtuptime for new colonies.

My first problem is that the AI gets a very fast economyincomeboost and i dont now how he does it, because i cant switch to him in the replay because of a Beta 1.09bug. It seems that he can build up his planet very cheap. Thougt the ai on hard doesnt cheat with money or so.

I everytime loose the game over time because he overruns me after a while with much more ships...

The only thing i never tried ist to rush him at the beginning of the game. But i want to play for fun, so i dont want to rush him.

Maybe someone has a tip for me (i play advent).

Wrong. We just recently discovered that hard AI gets an income bonus (about 50% more money than a player gets). Check this thread for more.

Dear lord. Please stop spamming the forums with posts about how you've just confirmed something that is by all accounts false. There's a thread devoted to such an argument that you linked to yourself and an additional one on top of that. There's no need to crap up other topics with this nonsense.

I've played this map and it is REALLY slow in the beginning. It is very expensive but if you pay to designate your planet as your home world it fixes the negative credit problem. Upgrading population is cheaper but it takes longer and you'll still be at -0.5 creds a second I think. Someone may have a better suggestion but I know upgrading to home world works.

By the way, I've beat this on hard, you can do it if you don't give up.

This is a very boring map because its slow AND easy, especially for Vasari. Basically all you do is take the first two pop upgrades at the very beginning then get a colony ship out to tag the roids in the two belts. After this just sit on your ass, maybe make a few basic frigates to clear your asteroid, and wait until you can build a cap factory and rush your best combat cap ship over to their homeworld.

Alternatively you could go for the cap ship first and let yourself keep the negative income but that makes it even easier and very, very hard to get an income afterwards.

Best way to tackle this is make your starting planet your capital.  This will start to raise your allegiance level and you'll begin to get more metal and crystal from your asteroids as this increases.  Create a colonization ship, and take it to the asteroid belts.  Capture the extraction facilities already there...they should yield over .6 each right off the bat.  At this point, you are once again playing a "normal" game as your allegiance increases and you make use of broadcast stations.

Yeah, spend the 2 grand to make your home world your capital, and that will solve your problems (the Gaian Cresent map is unique in that regard).

Since this thread was brought back up, Stardock finally confirmed that the hard AI players do indeed get an 'unfair' 50% income & resource boost (despite Reply #2's assertions). Confirmed on the third page of a long thread over in the Beta feedback forum:
