v1.1 and Impulse

Maybe someone can help me out.

I have received an email from Stardock stating that v1.1 patch is available via Impulse.

However, no matter how hard I look I cant seem to find it let alone download it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

As far as of right now (0240CT 8/8/8) the newest version is still the beta. If you want to try the beta just click on the stardock icon and select "show pre-release versions". After that you should see it available. If you don't want to try the beta well you will just have to sit tight for a bit longer.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I have already got "show pre-release versions" selected.
Some time ago I downloaded the 1.09 beta patch. But now I cant seem to get 1.1b

Does it have something to do with the fact that I have 1.09b installed?

I'm having the same question...since the email notification says this beta is only available through Impulse, I go ahead and have Impulse installed today, assuming it will automatically transfer my existing SDC info. But then Impulse doesn't recognize my serial for SOASE when I try to update it. Actually, Impulse says "no registration number required", yet it won't allow me to download the update unless I have a valid registration number...what gives?

As far as I can tell, and this is coming from a user only, the only beta is the 1.09b. Which is completely in line with Ironclads pervious betas. So your not missing anything, however I would check impulse tomorrow just to make sure there is not an updated beta patch out.

Now Wallness, I would suggest contacting stardock support.

The 1.1 beta has the version number 1.09 (since it isn't quite 1.1 yet :)). So, if you have 1.09, you already have the latest version.

As far as I remember 1.09 is a release on the way to 1.1,
i think they will subsequently release new beta point releases.

Delete that file and reload it again. It worked for me without a problem.

I only had to dl it once.

Maybe your internet connection got a small "ping timeout" so the data was transfered wrong, and caused that error for the installer.

Just try downloading it again, and it should work.

so...from everything ive gathered.

Stardock have just released the 1.1 notification pre-maturely , because theres nothing new except 1.09b which we knew about anyway.

I cant see a 1.1 update to 1.09

there isnt a 1.1 patch yet. 1.09b is the beta for 1.1 so its not pre-mature, since 1.09b is just 1.1 that needs futher testing.

I don't think I like impulse...

Do I have to have the 1.05v before I can get the 1.09/1.1? I don't see a "Show Pre-Release" function either.

No you do not have to have 1.05 before you can update to 1.09. Impulse will update the needed files (800+) for you.

Click the blue ORB in the upper-left and you will see "pre-realease updates".

Is there a line to wait? it has been saying downloading for quite sometime but says 0/0 bytes

Seems there are a lot of people downloading it recently. Also try the new downloading mechanism through Blue Orb - Preferences - Connection.

Ayup. This is what fixed it for me, finally. It still took awhile to get past 2.11mb on the download, but once it did, it flew.

I been trying for 24 hours. I am stuck at 0/0 bytes. This is not good for Impulse's image. If their is no copy protection, this online download patch BS is extremly annoying. Worst kind IMHO.

Please get the servers to work correctly so we can download the new beta , thank you. (:(

Try hitting the Blue Orb --> Preferences --> Connection and check the "Use New Downloading Mechanism" box.

I wanted to do a little clarification on the files Impulse checks when doing an update.

If you are doing an update to an application that Impulse installed Impulse uses XML provided to do the update.  This makes the update start faster because we are checking checksum values in memory instead of hitting disk.

If you are doing an update to an application that you did not install via Impulse, the first time you update that application Impulse will need to check the files on disk for the checksum values before updating.  This is because the XML data is not available to Impulse.  This goes for both SDC installations of Sins as well as the retail CD's.

Going forward we will include the XML data on the retail install CD so that will help reduce the amount of time required to do an update.
