gurkoz SINSounds

This is a sound replacement mod with the focus on weapons and explosions. It replaces just about all the sounds used ingame with new enhanced versions. Things that was left out where either voice acting or effects that already contained high quality.

FEATURES

  • New explosion sounds all ranging from small ship, installations to big capital ship explosions with a longer duration to better match up the visual experience.
  • New critical hit sounds to really let you know when a ship is in trouble.
  • New beefed up weapon sounds for all weapons and installations. All sounds still trying to uphold the feeling of quality towards each race.
  • New impact sounds for all weapons making a clearer message about when things are actually hitting.
  • New sounds for all ships engines. Different characteristics for each race.

AUTHORS NOTE

I always felt that the sound in this game where a little lacking. To me, all the sounds where a bit too much muffled. I can see why the developers took this approach since it should convey the feeling of a grand scale battle. I personally didn't like it and that is really the reason why i made this mod. These new sounds should be somewhat clearer and hopefully enhance the experience of participating in a massive battle! Hope you will like it!

INSTALL / UNINSTALL

1. Locate your mod folder.
Start the game and use the "Show modpath" feature from the ingame options menu.
This will tell you where your mods will be placed.

2. Unzip the contents of this mod to your mod folder in your modpath.
The result should be something like this...
C:\..\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\gurkoz\

3. Enable the mod.
Start the game and open the mods section of the options menu.
Select the "gurkoz" mod in the list of mods and click enable.
You can also check the "load at startup" for future autoload.

4. Crank up the volume and Play!

* To uninstall the mod just delete the folder in your modpath.

* To merge this mod with your current enabled mod just unzip the containing folders in your existing mod path.

COMPATABILITY WITH FUTURE VERSIONS

Since this mod is based on the sole purpose of just replacing resource files and not altering any game-files, i am fairly convinced that it will be fully compatible with future versions. It might even be compatible with versions prior to v1.05 but i leave that up to you to find out.

Nifty!

Are you going to do anything with the ship voices at any point? Would be kinda nice to have some of the more lackluster voices redone.

Using this just fine with 1.09 now. Guess 'cause just the sound files were changed, the game doesn't mind.

Thanks! Nice to hear it's working with 1.09.. As you mentioned, my plan was to create a mod that would work with all future patches, making it a ideal mod to always use :)

Thank you so much for making this. Also, as you stated, merging it with my mod was very easy to do. It is currently in the 7 DEADLY SINS 2.0 BETA "C", and everyone on my team has recommended you, and all who are playing are loving your new sounds. Congrats!

Hey!

Thanks for the feedback and the opportunity for my mod to be included in your sweet collection. How's the 2.0 comming?

I also have a fully featured Music mod that's currently unreleased i just might finish that baby up and release that too. Would that be something interesting? :)

When i tried out the 7DS v1.3 there was not a lot of files in the Sounds folder so it will be really cool to see my mod included there. Also, as much as i like Motorhead i personally don't think it's something that fit's this game. In my musicmod i've dug up all the "Space" music i could find from both games and movies to get a nice overall space feeling going, and yet try to maintain the different aspects of the three races. I'll get back to you on a release for that.

7 DEADLY SINS 2.0 is coming along great. We are currently in BETA "C", with a final BETA "D" coming soon, then the final release of the 2.0 version. After that, work will begin on 3.0 version.

If you are working on a music mod too, I would love to include that in to! My team so far love the new sound effects you have created, and are nicknaming your mod "The Sound version of Bailknight's grapihcs". When my parter SpardaSon21 recommended your mod, I knew I had to check it out, and I was very impressed. So if you are working on music too, I would definatley love to hear them.

Also, in 2.0, the Motorhead song will be gone. I have a new, drama intense spacey music in now, and it now the 7 DEADLY SINS theme. It makes the game sound....deadly.

Also, if you are gearing the music to be even more unique to the races, that would be great and follow my current theme. I have custom music in now for my Atlantian and Kohr-Ah races. So music which makes the other races stand apart would really be welcome.

I am looking forward towards any new release you may have. Good work, keep it up!

U maybe not a voice actor, but u can try to cut voices from athor games, starcraft or eaw and so on. Just a idea. People did it in athor games in their sound mods, some took sounds and voices from tv shows and all.

Well this is a very old forum post but I would love to merge this mod with mine, it is called Urban Expansion.  I don't think I will get a reply to this so I will go ahead and merge this mod with mine right now, gurkoz if you have any problems or want it out of my mod just tell me and I will remove it.  I just thought I'd let you know.

this mod is excellent, i got it quite a while ago and the game sounds much better now
