[Bug] Windows Vista Proformance.

Hello. Before i illustrate the problem, let me first clarify what type of system i have. So there is no confusion.

Specs:
AMD Phenom 9850BE at 2.5Ghz
ATi Radeon HD 4870 512mb GDDR5 (Catalyst 8.7)
1GBx4 Gskill DDR2 800Mhz
MSI K9A2 Platinum 790FX
1x250GB Segate 7200:11 (Windows Vista 64-bit)
1x80Gb Western Digital Cavalier SE (Windows XP SP2 32-bit)
750 W PSU
Sins run at 1280x1024, with 4xAA

Once i applied the beta patch to Sins on both of my Hard drives, i ran a 10 player game for 1 hour with maxed settings. Windows XP gave me a respectable Average of 78 FPS, Vista 27FPS. So i reinstalled Sins and only updated to version 1.05. There the results were 88FPS in XP, and 86FPS in Vista. To put simply Sins in now virtally unplayable in vista since the beta. So if anyone else has encounted this and resolved it, please respond and let me know. Stardock PLEASE HELP!

Thanks and goodluck.

Must be a configuration problem on your side. I'm running the game on a slower rig than yours on Windows Server 2008 (x64) and the frame rate is maxed out most of the time (i.e. equal to refresh rate).

BTW, I did notice that frame rate tends to plummet if I play around with the graphic settings too much. It's back to normal after restarting the game, though.

I am having the same problem. Now anything past 20 ships and my rig is dying. Maybe its a bug with ATI card.

8800GT and 1.09 improved game speed for me. Though it was my processor that is the weakest link, so I don't know if anything to do with graphics helped much.

humm. Well my buddy's have nearly identical rigs, except they're running Nvidia. For all i know it might be ATi's buggy drivers after all. :(

Since applying it i have minidump every second game i play. So i returned to 1.05.
The bad news is that i still have pretty frequent minidumps, much more than before that..

I use vista, an athlon 5000, and a geforce8500 and haven't noticed any difference with the beta. I never have mini-dumps when I've hosted either. Check your drivers?

Using :
Vista 64 Ultimate
Nvidia 8800GTS (640)
Intel dual core OC'd to 2.99
4 gig RAM.

Runs perfect. No issues, no speed drop.

Vista 32 Home Premium
Nvidia 9600GT OC
AMD64X2 5800+
4gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer RAM

1680x1050 and everything maxed, it slows down sometimes significantly once 100+ ships are in the fray...otherwise it's smooth...

I'd have to have double that under 1.05 for it to start slowing down with the same settings.

I am running at around half of your RAM and I haven't noticed that problem at all. The rest of my system matches yours in performance.

OK. i recently found some Beta ATi Video drivers that solved my performance problems. Thanks for all your feedback, here's the link if anyone is interested.

Windows Vista 32bit
Athlon 5200+
4 GB ram DDR2-800
Geforce 9800 GX2
SATA II Harddrive with 16mb Buffer

Sins only starts to drop FPS on a huge map if some text shows up of the opponents or allys. It also drops the FPS as soon the info box of any object pops up (planet or ships). Restarting didn't help.

So the game would run awesome smooth on this machine, even on a huge map with multiple big fleets in one gravity well, but there seems to be a problem with the text messages and info-boxes.

I can half confirm the font problem, though it only appeared after I tried replacing the default info card font (Sins Agency Bold) with a standard Windows font. (I have since switched to Sins Officina Sans, which I find more readable than Agency Bold, and which works without problems.)
