Galaxy Forge Question

Hmmmm...

I asked this in a diff thread but i figured this couldn't hurt. Can anyone give me directions or help to get a map i made in Galaxy Forge into the game to play online and off? I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks!

Save it in your Sins install Galaxy folder, look for it among all the other maps. It will not show up in Custom maps.

If you're running 1.09b, you'll also have to edit the map file with notepad and change versionNumber to 2.

Well, I was going to go back and add in the quote tags when I realized I forgot them, but that blasted edit button wasn't appearing again, so I was waiting to come back to it.

So it's all your fault!

Make sure you put them in the Sins install Galaxy folder, not the user path.

And make sure there are start points.

If I put them in the Sins install Galaxy folder, I can't see them.

(I'm using Vista and the french version of the game + patch 1.09b)

They should appear with all the other (Original) maps.

We're getting more and more people saying they don't see maps after changing the versionNumber to 2, that I'm starting to think it really doesn't work. I blame kryo!

I know if you had 1.05 and versionNumber 1, you would see it.

Ok, I'll try.

My problem is not i can't see them, but i can play them => automatic defeat :s

The automatic defeat happens because of the difference in maps. The user path takes maps made with the in-game map generator. This map generator does not put any start positions in the map, it just does a layout. When the game reads this map, it then assigns start positions.

Galaxy Forge maps need to have defined start positions, so if you put a Galaxy Forge map in the user path (where the in-game generated maps are supposed to go) the game gets horribly confused because it expects a map with no starts, and thus you get your auto-loss :P
