Sins of a Solar Empire 2

What We Want In It!?

Don't get excited by reading the title.

I just wanted to know what ppl would want in Sins 2. More races? Moons? Balance? More realism? More customization? Etc...

I know the new beta is still in progress and will hopefully fix some of the techinical issues.  But what patches can't do, what can a whole new game bring to us?

They must have at least thought of Sins 2...I mean, it will be popular...

Any input is welcome and appreciated.

Graphics:

I want many (if not all) ships to lose size in relation to capital ships, namely cruisers.

A bit of maneuvering during combat would be nice.

Ships should not become bright gray when you zoom out in cinematic mode.

Cinematic mode should make distant planets appear as dots for the sake of screenshots.

Planets should be slightly bigger.

Combat:

This is the main catagory that needs improvement, in my opinion.

More combat ship types. Currently there are loads of support ships, but only three main types of combat ships: heavy cruisers, long range frigates, and combat frigates. I would like to see an entirely new ship type, destroyers, that focuses mainly on combat. This would allow effective counters to support cruisers, etc.

More interesting combat abilities. I'd like to see counter measures against missiles, directional shields that shift to face whichever side damage is heaviest on, giving flanking attacks an added bonus, ships that can truly make use of a longer range by autonomously maneuvering well in combat, anti-strikecraft weapons on capital ships (honestly, why isn't this in already, and anything else to make the combat more deep. I don't want an ability microfest (like a blizzard RTS, grrrrrr), but I do want movement and fleet build to be important. Fleet positioning within the gravity well should play a huge part in the outcome.

Information warfare. As is, it's nonexistant.

Empire Building:

More in-depth empire strategies, government type would be nice. It would also be nice if every single thing that benefits your empire wasn't orbital, being able to develop things on the planets surface could be nice. Overall, however, I think the empire building in SoaSE is solid as it is.

By the time 2 comes out, I'd expect the dev's to have a fairly in-depth campaign for the TEC, Advent, Vasari -not just for 1 race but playable by each faction and different for each. In essence a campaign that tells the story of each crafting it's empire and the difficulties the must overcome.

yeah def a campaign. i prob wouldn't play it but the entire forum is scraming for one. and def more ships. i would love a new race but the balancing would be a pain probably. and more abilities and stuff. more research and more realism, etc...

That is just what I want. A class ship that helps cut through enemy fleets instead of a pounding feast. I like them to be cousin to the Capital ships also not costing as much and not need special crews either.

I think that in Sins 2 there should be more emphasis on maneuvering the ships rather than lining them up and duking it out until one side gives up. I also agree with the other posts of adding a whole new type of ship and having more direct combat abilities rather than having support after supporting ship.

My wishlist for SoaSE 2 ,updated graphics (include 2 graphics settings,1 for extreme quality and 1 for low end PCs) and I want the combat to be more dynamic, small ships attempting to dodge heavy weapons etc.

Well to get a better understand of what I would realy want:

Too bad, Nexus 2 was canceled long ago, what a shame.

I have no idea if the engine of Sins could handle all this :p

what i woud expect of sins 2 would be the combact and support - the offense may be low on ships but the supportign ships are to great in number that you have to get 2-3
different ships in a good amount to be able to even help...... the battle against 10 frigates should be won by 1 battle-ship and 2 frigates and 1 cruiser.... or even no frigates and cruisers at all.... and battle cruisers should be added so you can have a low-end of the battleship and the high end of just the cruiser which should have better performance than the cruiser but enough to be less than the battleship

sure, the heavy direct bombat cruisers are strong. but with one weapon they cant do to much. they should have a stronger ship but weaker than a cap ship-cousin (as someone said) that is multiweapon vessel. a supervessel. and def more maneuvaring. i maneuver my ships so that weapons on both sides deal damage to ships on both sides but in larger battles it is too tedious. it may be strategic but i dono't have the patience. so maybe auto-maneuvring.

(i know i butchered manuevering badly)

What I'd really like is an overhaul of the current stars and planets systems. Being able to jump from each star to every other sort of gets on my nerves, especially since the planets of the system each have their own gravity well and only connect to a couple of other planets in the same system. Not to mention the surreality of having a dozen inhabitable planets in a system.

I think I have been misunderstood.

I would not intend for Destroyers to be next to Capital Ships. Heavy Cruisers would still be the heavy hitters of any fleet outside of caps.

Destroyers would be specialty combat vessels, designed for cutting through support cruisers and frigates. They wouldn't hit as hard as HC's, but they would be much faster and be well equipped for quickly taking out ships such as the subverter.

And the only real way that they would fit in is a bit of a change in combat mechanics. There should be ships (support frigates, which are virtually nonexistant outside of flak)with counter-measures for various weapons. Ways to throw missiles off-target, to deflect lasers, etc.

And I want directional shields. Flanking is not nearly as effective as it should be. Similar to how shield mitigation adjusts to the amount of damage a ship is taking, shields should also adjust to the direction damage is coming from. If you have all your ships hitting an enemy capital ship from the front, it should adjust its shields to deflect that damage more efficiently, however leaving its rear vulnerable to a flanking attack.

Oh, and more great music.

Probably going to be an expansion well be fore a 2nd title. And the expansion should have a campaign mode.
