Returning armada

RA was perhaps too powerful in the older versions, but I really enjoyed it.   Now it is rigth next to worthless.  I researched it fairly early and by the time I finished the game I had a WHOPPING Three ships come to help me.   Not worth the expense.  this needs to change.

cooldown was changed to 10 minutes, seems a bit long imo. Maybe 5 minutes would be better.

You have to pay to activate it as well, so you need an economy to support it. You can no longer "rush" RA.

Wait, having a phase gates that allow you defend yout shit with prety much one big fleet, and always redy button to summon assloads more ships on moments notice, if not free, is not a good thing?

Vasari get good eco, beter than advent.

So if you want to have similar hugeass RA fleet as before, atleast prtend to build some economy :/

RA sucks now, not worth getting, instead select and purchase the ships you want not the assortment RA gives.

Price is ridiculous, cool down is ridiculous, not useable under any situation.

I'd say the whole point of teching up that high to RA should be getting ships without an economy. Getting a lot of ships at the expense of structure building and tech upgrades. Something only the Vasari can do.

Actually this nerf guts Vasari, so you scout vasari and see phase nodes, big deal, RA is no threat, leave the the nodes and hope the player wastes money on teching to RA and DA.

I agree since 1.09 RA has been total nerffed its of no use now except as bait to lure your opponant in to going for the phase gets so you can lay up a nice little trap with your fleets, well thats what i am using ra for cant see any other use now ?, but my statergy could be well off the mark I am no expert yet.

You guys have no idea how to play without using game exploits do you?  Free ships for life is not balanced with any other race.

CptSiddy and I already told you all, you need an economy.

Phase gates are awesome even with RA up and Running.  However, if you realize you are in serious trouble, all you need to do is pay and activate RA, and BOOM, you have instant ships.  Its like having frigate factories that don't take up logistics slots.

it was never a game exploit as it was part of the vasari tech. OP possibly but not an exploit. also you need an economy to tech to RA.....

 

I agree phase gates are awesome but RA sucks now. If you don't see that then play some vasari.

Controversial statement ahead:

Just another nail in the coffin of this game. It was a great game, but the constant shouting of the people who only ever play TEC is successfully managing to nerf anything that isn't TEC, and this has been happening since 1.04.

How about we nerf the TEC cannon - can wipe out a planet in 2 shots? Too powerful that's obviously too powerful.

I notice that the TEC economy is massively ahead of everyone elses - once it's fully established no-one else stands a chance. Can we nerf that as well please.

Phase gates *are* awesome, but I no longer have a reason to tech to RA.  Phase gates are good enough that they completely negate the benefit you're pointing out -- "Boom, you have instant ships" is nigh nothing when your fleet is just a jump away.  That, and if you want to use them as a factory replacement later on, it takes an annoying amount of micro due to the cost (can't sanely put that on auto!).

Not happy with the change -- it's just not worth it anymore, if it ever was. :/

im always vasari and i always use RA but with the next patch it will be a little harder. plus it wont be that hard for me since im an expert in economy. (i dont have to play tec to get a good economy). Infact i think vasari are superior in economy and militarty. Every single game i play i use ra. The key to getting ra fast is getting as many planets as you can and trade ports etc.. for better economy. RA is a little over powerd but its fun   I love out numbering other fleet sizes 10-1 . I usually have a fleet consisting of 70 starcos enforces, 80 asailants, 100 carriers, 50 sentinals, 30 ravenger skirmishers, and 13 capital ships. Even the biggest of fleets cant take me down. Only way to take me down is if theres 2-4 guys against me or 2 vasari RA players   I usually win and Own all when im Vasai !!!

To those of you who think the TEC players asked for the nerf, I will note that I have played primarily as Vasari for the past few hundred games. 

 

My thing about instant ships was that you could buy 45-90 fleet supply instantly.  I still think RA is a good deal, you just aren't going to tech rush it.
