The shield projection ability is too strong. If thereare morethan 5 of them in a fleet then they are almost invincible. Also when playing on a map with a red background this ability is so bright you cant see your ships making it difficult to see your ships health bars or target enemies that are also hidden by the glow.

Target using the empire tree, faster and easier in larger battles to begin with.

True but not what I think he was getting at.

well I could have taken the time to point out that phase missiles negate any positives from the shield. If the graphic is too much he can always choose to lower some settings, should make their bubble not as obtrusive if you play with the settings some.

The shield protection ability itself isn't all that great really anyways. I can destroy guardians all day long as any of the three races it just requires a little thinking ahead, or strategic thinking if you will. phase missiles, bombers, illuminators, the list goes on and on. I personally think their Repel power is much stronger then their silly little shields.

I don't think they are too strong, but the graphic effect is super annoying.

It lags my com and makes me cant see my units.

I dunno I run a pretty stout system and late into my latest game I am only getting about 25-30 fps according to FRAPS. Athlon X2 3Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 2 x 8800GTS 640MB in SLI should be able to run Sins all day at any resolution. Too bad the saves aren't compatable because I would like to know how the same exact battle would perform on 1.05.

And yes, guardian shields are graphically annoying. :D

Thats odd burnout, I am running an Intel Pentium 4 3.33, OC'd to 4.1, 2 gigs of old school coursair ddr1, and a 8800 gtx OC'd to 700/950. And I dont experience slowdown in even 9 ai games late in game. I think the game engine doesnt properly utulize the second core thusly why in alot of games my single processor system still outperforms alot of newer systems. Mines obviously pushed near the max it can be for the hardware but still its 4 years old or so.

Yeah. I won't worry much about it right now. I can almost max Crysis settings at 1600x1200 if I could get off sins that is. Wierd thing is, the game isn't slowing down in the sense that it is getting choppy. Maybe FRAPS is wrong.

At this point in the game my main battle fleet consists of almost 150 ships and the hard AI I am fighting has all 2000 FP eggs in one basket. Armistice saved my ass there once hahaha. Anyway, if I get ambitious I will go back to 1.05 and make another 6 AI game and see how it runs late into the game.

I am weird I don't really like playing games at resolutions higher then 1280x1024 for some reason. I mean they look nice and all, but stuff feels too small for me. Thusly even crisis I can run at very high settings thanks to the resolutions I play at. :D Not max settings of course but I still get a very pretty game and a somewhat stable fps. ;)

I'll upgrade my phase missles quicker then i guess. another thing i forgot to mention is why for this ability you can see the field so that you can move your ships into it for effect while other abilites you have to guess exactly how close to move your ships. (other then the blue circles that show up for cap ship abilities)
