Umm...... its an idea

Dont know if this is the right place to put it but i just wanted to give my idea. But before that great job on everything. The game was great and now it became better then before. The new explosions look amazing but i was thinking maybe when bigger ships explode (eg. Capital ships) maybe they should do some damage within certain certain area as an explosion blast. So that if you know that your capital is going to go down instead of trying to escape you send it right in the middle of the guys and watch the fireworks.

It's just an idea :P

I am on the fence on this one. I like it obviously since if I blow your cap up before you get it outta the middle of your fleet. ;) Though I don't know if its really a good idea or not. Still interesting thought.

well i dont mean that they should make the explosion wipe everything clean maybe just do some serious damage. :D

On one hand this obviously makes some sense, since explosions generally do more than zero damage when they happen right next to a ship.

On the other hand, consider the way damage is handled in this game: even highly advanced energy weapons with a direct hit only do a very small amount of damage to ships' shields. With that in mind, the random bits of shrapnel and non-focused explosions of a ship blowing up nearby seem like they would do even less damage.

What's the point of even programming this damage in, if it only deals something like 5 damage points to all adjacent ships?

Now if the cap actually successfully RAMMED another ship, then maybe we could factor in some serious damage.

my Caps allways ram into ships but it just seems that the other ship either gets knocked flying slightly or just jumps to make enough room for my Cap.

And going back to the explosions bits compare a rocket (TEC use them all the time) and a capital ship exploding. When you see the difference write back :P

How about a "chance to damage" surrounding ships on an individual basis (not sure if it's possible)?

Assuming an explosion does not uniformly spread damage evenly:

Say 10 frigates and 5 cruisers surround an exploding Cap ship; give the frigates a 50% chance of some damage and the cruisers a 25% chance - to simulate their respective "toughness".

I like that Skyjack :P it would make things more realistic and i always wanted to send my ships on suicide runs lol

It is just an idea and i dont mind if thay dont even try to put it in the game.
