i think its a bug

Just to make things short i;ll go straght to the point. Strike Craft can go right through planets. and i mean right through them while every other ships goes round. So like i said i think its a bug but im not sure. I did double check.

He means flying THROUGH the planet itself. I've seen it to and it makes no since what so ever.

I can confirm I've also seen this behaviour by strikecraft.

Now that I think about, they do do that. For who knows what reason, it never occurred to me that it was a bug...

Use your imagination. Assuming you still have one, they are flying through the atmosphere.

In this case, the ground seems to count as atmosphere as well.

How do you know they are not diving into the atmosphere, skimming along the surface awhile then flying out the other side. It would be the shortest route assuming they didn't lose any speed entering or exiting the atmosphere. ;)

No,it's obvious flying through the entire planet.

This bug is there since Sins release.

i did make sure. I looked at it from every possible angle and they are goign right through it.

Yep. They fly through the ground as well.

I am aware that they do it damn it. I am trying to give it a plausible reason for existing since I don't want my fighters going the long way around the planet....

So like I said, flying through the atmosphere.
That would work if they didn't fly through the core of the planet as well.

they are phase tunneling through the planet then. leave it be. o.O
Reply #14 Top
so if fighters can phase tunnel whats stopping a capital ship doing it??? or a frigate??? or even a cruiser???

look its a bug and we just pinned it down so leave it be kk.

ive seen em fly threw the sun to.

Obviously they have discovered metal alloys capable of withstanding 10 million+ degrees. Don't you love the future.

alright if you want to be that way about it. How do you know its a bug? I could also point out that it could be an inherent design decision by the developers. After all its been that way since the game came out so how do you know for sure smarty pants?

We should ask them, I got a feeling its a design decision seeing as they are the only ones that do it.

That's my reasoning for it being a bug.

maybe the fighters shoot their way through the planet. kinda like digging a hole, only larger, and through a plant. :NOTSURE: humm, I don't think there is any explanation, and therefore, it must be a bug! Squash it plx kthxlol.

It is actually a design decision, to cut down on CPU usage if I remember right. You can have a very large number of squadrons, and many ships per squadron (imagine an Advent player with 100 squads of fighters..), so they don't have collision detection in order to leave processing power for other things (imagine a few thousand ships 'hitting' the planet at the same time, since each fighter would need its own detection). Moreso because they are fast anyway, and going through/going around is not nearly as drastic as if it was a ship.
