Trouble installing mods

Trouble installing mods

Can't find the right path.

I can't find the path for installing a mod, I get as far as C:\Users\username. I can't find the AppData folder, any idea where I should look? I'd like to be able to play some mods.

Hey, I figured out how to get mods to work for me for version 1.09.

All I did was start the game from here C:\Program Files\Games\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire   (ofcourse where your game is may be different.) Instead of from the start menu or from the shortcut Icon. For some reason if I try loading the game and using mods from either of them it locks up on me with an error message saying something about the applet trying to shut down in an unexpected manner or something.

Hope this trick works for you.

What mods did you try? That really shouldn't work.

I can't imagine what the issue is - bcz I still cant get mods to work

there are no other user accounts on my machine

my experience with systems & windows xp is pretty deep so if it was something silly - I probably would have been able to figure it out already.

my installation of windows xp is pretty bare bones & most non-essential services are turned off in order to maximize performance on my rig.

The one thing I thought might have been causing the issue is that my system drive (C:) is comprised of 2 10k WD 74 gig Raptors in a RAID 0 config (Blazing fast performance w this setup)

& the drive that I keep the "my documents" (pictures, etc.) folder is held on a seperate hard drive (D:) that drive is a standard 7200k drive, I set things up like this because there"s no need to keep pics, mp3's, movies & all that on the RAID setup - it would just be a waste. So I even went as far as creating

"D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods"

on that drive with a simple copy of the

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods"

& still no good - I thought maybe it could have been the fault of minor glitch, or a reg key pointing to the wrong drive.

I even tried starting the game from original .exe in the install folder in order to bypass the start menu (as mentioned in someone's earlier post) - no good.

If anyone has a better suggestion other than emailing stardock (thx for posting their support email though) ... I'm all ears. Although it seems a support request might be the solution @ this point.

Thx for everyones help still!

The two things I can think of to try are to:

1. Create a new user account and try again.

2. Reinstall the game and try again.

If those don't work, you'd probably need to email them.
