Can i get some advice?

Heya guys i love this game!! i have had it for three days playing the same game non stop...(i like to max things out)

well its my first game and its on easy skill level but i can not beat the huge fleet the Ai has built on there last planet.

i have tried a mix of fleets all day long no matter what i do i get owned everysingle time even with even numbers

and when i get pwned its bad and fast not sure what i can do..i have tried tons of combos of mixed units no luck

the enemy has about 9 caps and 59 drone things with about 100 other units mixed...

only thing i can think of is how i attack i try to get my 1 huge fleet to single target the cap ships but in huge battles

they dont seem to listen well i click left click with auto attack on..is there some diffrent keys i can use to make this easier?

Why don't you try micromanaging your fleet? Actually lets take it one step further even. Divide your fleet into mutliple fleets. Depending on your race I would go with 3-4 caps, and about 30lrf, 30 hc, 40 carriers, 20 flak, 15 lf. Have the flaks in the same fleet as teh HC and just micro manage your forces.

The carriers being in their own fleet is very important since you dont want them anywhere near combat, thats what their fighters and bombers are for. I personally go for 2 fighters for every bomber but thats in 1.09 beta. I didn't use carriers alot in 1.05 so not sure how you want to mix them. I would probably go 50/50 in 1.05 just off the top of my head.

A tactic i use....take the next planet by their homeworld you want to crack, and set up shop, build everything you can and move you fleets out of the gravity well in the world next door.make em ready to phase space. and wait....the AI will send ships in to check on the scene. let them come. be patient....if the AI thinks everything is cool he will , most times, send his fleet or half his fleet to take the planet.. if he does. make sure he is commited and deep inside your gravity well....once there pop a fleet in to deal with him and use a second fleet to make for his homeworld...phase inhibitors are a must.... Make him split his forces, then cut him down Good luck

If the enemy has 9 capital ships then you need 12 imo. At least match them on carriers, but have more if possible.

From the sounds of things, you need at least 2 of each capital ship, 60+ carriers, 20+ flaks, 50+ HC's and a mixture of the others. Some Robot ships will help with hull repair, Dunovs with shield repair.

Also, how are you for research ? Have you researched all the shield and hull and gun upgrades yet ? Have you upgraded the Capitals to level 3 at least and assigned their ability points to the most useful ? Dunov with shield repair and everything else with their biggest extra gun or missiles. Do you have a mix of capitals or all the same one ? I always try to have equal numbers of the capitals so the abilites are all present.

Tactics wise, take out at least 2 of their capital ships as soon as possible. Select all ships, and right click on the icon for the capital ship nearest the jump in point (and try to be aware of where they are and place your jump in accordingly) and just keep right clicking that ship every 5 seconds or so until its dead, then shift target. If you take out enough capital ships, they will retreat. (If you click a target once and then leave it, they will all reselect their default targets pretty soon and ignore your target, so keep reclicking it.)

Do they have a nano weapon structure ? If yes, target this first and destroy it before you do anything else. One of these alone can nueter your whole fleet long enough for it to be trashed without firing a shot.

Also, if they have several repair structures in the combat zone, you may need to take these out. Alt-select your bombers and have them attack the repair structures.
