Rebots when attmpted install

Whenever I try to install the game my computer rebots. My video drivers are up to date. No idea what's wrong.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. 

At which point during the process does this happen?  More information would be helpful in order to offer up suggestions.

First of all, auto-run is turned off somehow so I'm launching it from the setup icon. It brings up windows installer and then reboots.

 

Specs

Pentium 4 2.66 GH

1 gig ram

NVIDIA GeForce 6600 (drives up to date as of 5/16/08)

Do you press any buttons, or does it reboot immediately?

Try installing through Impulse from impulsedriven.com.

 

Also, you might want to update your drivers. Checking the nvidia website, I come up with a set released 07/09/08 for the GeForce 6 series with XP.

A spontaneous reboot often means your computer is tossing a Blue Screen of Death but is set to not display it. BSODs are generally caused by hardware or driver problems, and the error message it shows can help pin down exactly what the issue is.

To have your computer display BSODs instead of rebooting immediately, go to Control Panel->System Properties->Advanced Tab->Startup and Recovery Settings and uncheck 'automatically restart'.

The next time it crashes, you may get a BSOD similar to the one below (not all highlighted parts may be present):


Write down the information in the highlighted areas before turning your computer off. The information there can then be researched online to see if others have experienced similar problems, and what the cause was. You may also get a 'windows has recovered from a serious error' message when you turn your computer back on--if you do this, you should agree to send the report to microsoft. You'll then be forwarded to information about that error on Microsoft's knowledgebase, if they have any.

No blue screen appeared after making that change. It reboots immediatly. How do you download from impulse without paying?

Sorry forgot this, the microsfot error report was corrupted each time.

How do you download from impulse without paying?
Click the key symbol in the upper right, click add registration.
