In Asteroid Fields Metal And Crystal Asteroids Say MAY BE CAPTURED But How?

I go into some asteroid fields and there are metal and crystal asteriods there to be had. I cannot figure out how to take over the extractors that are already on the asteroid that says it may be captured.

With Vasari, use scout. With others, use colony frigate.

and once those frigates (or scouts) are there just leave them and they will do the work
