Sins fatal error problem

On my laptop, Sins  has always been a little shaky and prone to CTD events, even after patching, however now whenever I attempt to launch the game, the screen goes black and the game crashes, giving me a mini-dump message and then Windows telling me that Sins has stopped working.

While I love this game, its awesome, I haven't been able to find out whats causing this issue

specs for laptop are as follows

(Acer Aspire 7720-6604)

3gb RAm

Core2 duo t8100

Nvidia 8600m GT

Windows Vista Ultimate 64

any help would be greatly apprectiated and if more info is required I will try my best to provide it

-thanks

Is this happening before you get to the "main menu"?

Are you perhaps trying to load a save-game from a previous game-version?   That will break things....hehe

Game-saves are not valid across game-versions...

Also, if you have a MOD enabled to "load at start" and it's not compatible with the game-version you're running it can cause the above behaviour.

thanks,

It happens exactly as I start the EXE, before anything happens, and I have no mods running

Make sure your drivers are up to date.

The drivers are the latest drivers for the 8600m GT, however unforunately nVidia no longer apparently support this device in any way, and tells those with it to go to their manufacturers website for drivers, in this case, Acer. The driver they have there is exactly the one I have installed, however I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver, and the driver setup program cancelled itself saying that it found no compatible hardware on my system. I tried both the 32 and 64 versions, neither would get past that point.

I also have issues with a couple other games (especially Warhammer Online which has been crashing every random couple of hours since I got into the closed beta two months ago, and now its still doing it in the CE pre-release) however in other games such as Dawn of War, it never has any problems, but SoaSE is the only program that simply doesn't do *anything*

still haven't found a resolution for this issue yet, even after reinstalling the game and rolling back drivers =(

Did you try http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/? Acer likely does not have the latest drivers.

tried going on there, was able to update the drivers after using the modified file that allows the driver install to recognize the video card, but I still have the same problem with Sins simply crashing immediately on startup.
