Light Frigs, Overseers, and the Vasari damage buff

TSome Q's

I see everywhere in these forums that it is a good idea to build a balanced fleet. But why? What advantages are there to using light frigs and LFM frigs at all late game when a Heavy Cruiser can easily tank several simotaniously? Is a 170 HC, 80 Carrier, 6 Cap fleet not superior to a 70 LF, 70 LRM frig, 90 HC, 80 Carrier, and 6 Cap fleet?

Overseers. Does anyone use them? I find their abilities useful but not useful enough to actually research or build any if money is tight, which it always seems to be. I prefer the Subverters a lot. I dont think Ive ever regretted not building any Overseers, and that, my friends, says a lot about how useful I pervieve them to be. Prehaps you can enlighten me.

I read on these forums that the Vasari get a +15% damage buff. How? Is it in friendly culture areas? Everywhere? What conditions need to be met?

By "balanced fleet" people don't mean literally balanced.

They mean not spamming one type of unit

Adding support cruisers and carriers will turn an illuminator spammer to someone with a balanced fleet.

Kingofsiam is right a balanced fleet is not spaming one unit

and you should buy overseeres because in a fleet they have the reactive nanite armor which increases the hitpoints and armor of the targeted freindly ship for a period of time. which can be usefull to keep a cap ship alive. and they are also usefull on planets beside enemy planets becasue they can slow down incoming enemy fleets to ley your fleet get there to defend your planet. this stratagy is especially deadly with phase gates and phase jump inhibitors because you can lure an enemy fleet into attacking a planet becasue it is almost un defended and you can have your fleet there to cripple theirs. and you don't even need phase detection for it to work because overseeers can get mobile phase detecion as an ability.

Overseers are very useful and as their name hints at their job is to oversee and protect their fleet and planets

How much longer does it take for a Jump-Degraded ship to phase jump?

i think it takes 50% longer to travel through phase space. not too much but with phase gates you should be able to get your fleet there in time

The speed of travel is decreased by 50%, so you end up doubling the time it takes for them to get to their destination. Jump Degradation also affects enemy ships leaving the gravity well, so you can actually overtake fleeing enemy fleets if the lane is long enough and you jump right after the enemy does.

As far as I can tell, Reactive Nanite Armor stacks until the hull strength is equal to normal strength + 250
