Fast Capship Destruction?

I recently started trying the advent (have always used TEC before) and, while testing them against an AI advent, came across an interesting situation.

In the early game I had a small fleet which consisted of a Rapture, about a dozen Disciples and an Iconus. I ran into the enemy fleet which consisted of a Rapture and 15 or so Disciples. I wanted to try out what I had so I cast Vengence on my Rapture and attacked.

The outcome was that my Rapture's shields were depleted in a little more than 5 seconds and was destroyed only a few seconds after. That is by far the fastest I've ever seen a capital ship go down....can anybody tell me what the heck happened?

Funny... Vengeance simply retaliates a percentage of damage taken by the ship it's cast on by the attacker (percentages are 40%/80%/120%)

I don't know what can chew up a capital in less than 10 seconds other than a ridiculously huge fleet... one other Rapture and 15 Disciples certainly don't qualify.

Maybe it was just a glitch. I forgot to save the replay so I can't go back and look. I figured it might have something to do with the other Rapture using vengence as well, etc. But sounds like it's not normal so I won't worry about it. Thanks for the help.

Replays are saved automatically after each game ends (or you quit). Just need to find the right one :P

I thoughty they only saved at certain points. Thanks, I'll check it out.

Two Raptures both firing at eachother, both using Vengeance.. sounds like damage getting bounced back and forth and amplified indefinitely. Never thought it would actually work but seems I was mistaken. Scary stuff.

One word: Bombers, Bombers, BOMBERS!

A crapload of Heavy Cruisers amd carriers deal some heavy damage against all caps relatively quickly. But always have some ships defending your carriers, they are VITAL!

End of Starhound's quote

That would produce faster deaths when Vengeance's retaliated damage is increased to 65%/130%/225% in 1.1...

This warrants experimentation...

oh wow. the damage getting bounced back and forth by vengence might be true and if it is it will need to be fixed.

ill try it in my next game

Since we are on the topic of Vengence, how long does it last? The infocard didn't show a duration.
