The Story of the Exiles
The purge....
A hundred years before the Trade Order discovered the Advent, a group of Advent known only as the “Exiled” was purged from Advent society. The Exiled was a group that disagreed with the unity hive mind, preferring to maintain individuality, but having a devoted priest caste to contact the Unity. This was seen as a blasphemy by the higher castes, and lead to a banning of this belief and its practice. The Exiled continued their practices underground. Seeking to purge their society, the advent began executing known believers. Splinter factions of the exile formed and some took up armed revolution, while others decided to stay neutral. Those that fought were quickly eradicated by the advent. Seeing themselves as next, the neutral factions banded together again and left before they could be eradicated.
The Exile....
Over the course of several centuries, the Exiled roamed the stars, seeking a new home. After three centuries of searching, they finally found a terran planet deep within a nebula on the edge of the galaxy.
They quickly began building up the planet, and fortifying it, in case their brethren ever found them. They also colonized other planets in their system. A defense fleet was also formed. However, the desire for revenge burned in the hearts of the populace. Probes were soon sent to their old homeworld. They discovered it to be vacant and barren. Not knowing where their enemies were enflamed a movement to begin an armament program. It was amazing how the desire for vengeance could lead a formerly peaceful civilization to war.
War preparations....
Over the next 700 years, the Exiles made numerous advancements in weapons technology, learning how to use psi powers to enhance weaponry. They primarily focused on the development of beam weapons. They built a large fleet of warships. The fires of revenge began to burn even brighter. They also began sending probes to their old homeworld and TEC space. Ten years ago, a probe discovered the vasari refugees heading for Trader Space. The exiled monitored the war between the TEC and Vasari, but hung back in the shadows.
The Return....
One year ago, a probe stumbled on an Advent war fleet. The time for vengeance was at hand. The Exile fleet began preparations to move out, and with in a year, returned to the known galaxy. Now, no one knows how the conflict will go, with the fires of revenge at their height, the Advent now find themselves on a two front war....with the people who exiled them from their home, and the brothers they nearly destroyed a millenia ago....
The story of the CRF
Sins of a Solar Empire: Exiles Wrath
The Beginning..
Seven Centuries ago, a great schism occurred in the Trade Order. The Order was split over a dispute regarding trade rights of several planets. Several factions formed, most advocated a peaceful resolution to the dispute; however several wanted an armed insurrection, but one would blaze the way; The Imperial Guard. The IG started as a security firm for shipping, defending against pirates. But, as the years had gone by, it become more and more militaristic, secretly building an assault fleet and stockpiling arms. The Guard, annoyed by the lack of action on the part of the Trade Order council, banded together with several other factions and launched an assault on the disputing planets, intending to force an end to the dispute. This quickly evolved from a simple economic dispute, into a full fledged civil war. The coalition that had started the conflict, renamed itself the Confederacy. The civil war raged for a decade, resulting in the utter destruction of several star systems. The Confederacy was on the verge of victory, when the Order launched a desperate assault on the Confederate Capital, the Order fleet caught the defending forces off guard, and was victorious, simultaneously eliminating a good portion of the Confederate High Command. The Confederate fleets, without leadership, quickly fell into disarray, many of them surrendering. However, several fleets of the Confederate navy banded together under the command of Vice Admiral Jacek Quorr. Quorr, knowing that defeat was imminent, ordered the evacuation and destruction of the remaining Confederate facilities. Just as Order fleets arrived at the remaining Confederate strongholds, the Confederate Remnant fleets left the Order sector and fled to a distant star cluster, possibly in another galaxy. One day the Remnant would return to claim vengeance on the Trade Order.
The Arrival and Build Up…
When the Confederate Remnants arrived at their new home, they immediately colonized a habitable planet and set to work on colonizing the rest of their cluster. The Confederate Remnant quickly established a democratic, although militaristic government. The Remnant Military focused its resources on building a fleet and military research. The navy soon numbered in the thousands. Several military innovations, including new power generation techniques and the discovery of a technology that would allow them to synthesize food and other items. This made the use of credits pointless, and a new economy was put in place. People no longer needed money and as a result, they had finally built a truly equal society and eliminated poverty. The only resources now needed where ones to build ships with. Seven centuries after the exodus, the Confederates had made monumental technological progress and their society was thriving. The old desire for vengeance had been all but forgotten and the military had become lax. Until a patrol stumbled on a Trade Order Exploration probe. This rekindled the old desire for revenge and lead to a rapid re-armament of the Confederate Military. Confederate scientists soon made a startling discovery on a desolate planet in a remote system; an alien prototype weapon that had the ability to manipulate a singularity into a weapon that could destroy planets (point singularity weapon). It was quickly classified and work started on a project code named TRINITY. The result, was the construction of an entirely new class of ship, that made use of this technology, The Trinity-Class Dreadnought. It took over a half a decade to build the Trinity. A second ship of the class, the Leviathan, was soon constructed. A third was also built, the Nightbringer. The Trinity Dreadnoughts where built around the Point Singularity weapon system. In a little over a decade, the Confederate Navy had been restored to its former glory. The bulk of their weapons were laser based and also included a new technology known as “Trans-phase Missiles” (similar to the Vasari phase missiles, only these pass through phase space rendering them impossible to shoot down, and carry an antimatter payload). Additionally, the Confederates made widespread use of cloaking technology, perfecting it to the point where their ships could move while cloaked. Most of the confederate capital ships are armed with pulse laser batteries as well as devasting disruptor beam cannons. The time for vengeance had come.
The Return…..
Before they launched a renewed assault on the Trade Order, intelligence had to be gathered. The Confederate High Command decided to send out probes to the old trader worlds. One of these alarmed them to the core, it had stumbled onto a battle between Trade Order ships and an alien assault fleet, the Vasari. Judging from the scans brought back of the Vasari ships, they had technology that was superior that of the Confederates (not by much, except in nano-tech and the understanding of phase space). Despite that, it appeared as though the Traders were winning the battle. Wanting to see how powerful these unknown aliens were, high command dispatched a small fleet to engage an isolated Vasari fleet. Though outnumbered, the confederate fleet managed to pull a victory as well as capture a few Vasari ships. The reason for their victory: the fleet had brought a secret weapon, the Trinity herself. The first test of the point-singularity weapon exceeded all hopes, and shattered the resolve of the Vasari fleet, which turned tail and ran, after seeing a third of their fleet wiped out in one shot. However, they would just die tired. The Trinity also incorporated another technology that up until now only the Vasari had been able to replicate: a phase jump inhibitor. The confederate military had discovered one of the objects over 150 years ago in one of their star systems and had managed to reverse engineer one of their own, and had incorporated it onboard all three of the Trinity vessels. This was the first battle the Confederate Remnant Navy had fought in over seven hundred years. The Rest of the Navy was marshalled and an invasion fleet was formed, including all three Trinity’s. Military production was cranked up and soon the fleet launched, on an all-out assault on both the traders and their enemies. The time for vengeance had come.....
