Impulse updating to 1.09 beta is annoying me.

For some reason when I get to the very end of downloading the Beta for 1.1 and it starts verifying the download, fifteen minutes go by and nothing happens. How long does it take to verify a download? I had to redownload this update since I uninstalled and reinstalled sins since it was crashing a lot in game. I've attempted to redownload the beta using my college campus's internet, at night so no one else is on (in other words really really fast). Something is messing up and it is getting on my nerves, I just want to play sins again.

Also sometimes when I've tried again to download it, Impulse will give me a message saying that the file was larger than expected and quit the download. Arrgh this is giving me a headache, too many problems with my games combined with college work isn't a very good mix. Does anyone have any solutions to my problem?

If you post about this in the Impulse category of the forum, support or the devs should be able to weigh in on these issues.

A few things:

1) Try disabling your antivirus/firewalls while downloading. There have been a few issues with them causing the "file larger than expected" and other installation hangups.

2) Try blue orb > preferences > folders > Reset Data. This also fixes the "file larger than expected" errors sometimes.

3) Sins has a lot of files. It can take a bit to verify. The new Impulse patching mechanism is a lot better than it used to be, but depending on other things, 15 minutes may not be too long.

4) You can access the Impulse error log by clicking the question mark in the top right. It would help the Impulse devs if you posted it along with your issue in the Impulse boards, as kryo suggests ;)

1. I thought about posting this on the Impulse forum but since there is only a General section I wasn't sure where to post. (I was looking for a Technical section) I will know next time.

2. Thanks for the tips, the problem was I wasn't being patient. That is what you get when you are stressed over school work and things that you think should take a few minutes take longer than you expect (my fault entirely). Thanks for the help guys, sorry for my lack of patience.

If you just restart Impulse, it should continue its verification.  Worked for me, anyways...

Yeah, Annatar's right about this one, especially with the firewalls.  If you're on a college Internet setup, disable your firewalls.  Additionally, there is a small chance that your college may be blocking the Sins update.  I've had Internet problems with my college just a couple years ago, and it wasn't a problem on my end, more of a crappy configuration by the college network admins, as a lot of them (not all) don't know what they're doing.

If you're really stuck, try downloading from an Internet source other than that as a last resort if you're still having problems.
