Haven't been online for a few weeks, i've been up to my ears in entity files, haha. I would never consider myself a coder, but am facinated with the customizability of this game, and so i find myself having all these silly ideas to change things to make it sorta "my game" if you know what i mean.
I started out changing values, up the armor, up the weapons, load the mod and see what it looks like. That got to the point where it was boring because i just walked through a game and nothing could stand up to the changes i had made. So... it was time for something different, i took all the weapons for the Advent and set them to zero, and took the armor and shields back to normal, however i did set the restore rate up to compensate for not having weapons. And that was interesting.
The advent ships could be destroyed, but it was slower than at normal, but not invulnerable like when i had the armor and shields way up. So this became fun.
Next was the cap ship thing. I looked around and saw several mods with cap ships only, but thought it might be interesting to go the other way. Move the cap ship abilities over to the frigates, which i was able to get stable after Annatar11 explained how i should go about it,

So i play the game and sometimes win a battle, sometimes get sideswiped by the pirates on one side and the vasari on the other, or stretched out thin and have them attack my home when i'm half way across the system. So i built all these little fleets, you know, just to sit and defend the planet. But that has its pro's and con's. I had all these fleet icons along the left, like twenty something, haha, and i'm dying trying to figure out which is which.
So i get this crazy idea, that i would just up the hangers and the beam defenses and i could travel the system and the planets would protect themselves.
And i would be happy
But the hangers and beam defenses get overwhelmed easier than the little fleets. So now i have this new silly idea to make the beam defenses a little harder and mobile. I tried to merge the beamdefense entity and a frigate to see if i could get it to move, but nothing, well actually it crashed the mod. So I made a new thing, a frigate with all the hud icons and pictures and infocards for the beam defense, but it also crashed the mod, even after putting in a new entry for it in the playerpsi entity.
Anyway, i am still working on that one, and thought i would go online and see if i wasn't re-inventing something that someone had already made. But haven't seen a mobile defense yet, (other than using fleets). So if anyone has an idea about what i am missing, i would appreciate a yell.
Well... back to the entity files
I have another silly idea about lowering the values on all the races to make the games longer. But really so far, haha, i've only played a handful of games, i keep changing the files and trying new things, and having the mod lockup, so most of the time i'm in the files trying to figure out what i didn't do right, instead of playing. But when it works, it is very relaxing to play a nice game though.
