The multiplayer seems faster

In the beta, a multiplayer with all game speed settings pushed to fast seems faster than a singleplayer game with the same settings, and certainly faster than the older versions. The speed difference is real right, I'm not just insane? And if so, is it intentional?

Everybody I have played with says so.  Especially people with faster computers. And especially in the beginning. (Maybe too fast?!)

Yes, it is fast for about the first 10 min.  I believe the theory is that the new Alloy net code is some how responsible.  I personnally like it that fast.  It really makes the boring opening build order go faster.
