Mouse stops responding, gameplay slow

ok i clicked the tutorial. the game loaded but 15 seconds later, i can't move the mouse.

Now here is the interesting part.

a) I can't move the cursor at all, it gets stuck at one position and it would be like that wven after i exit the game. I can't use it at all and its like that forever. I have to restart my laptop.

b) The cursor gets stuck at one spot but I can click on the tabs. Like if its stuck at the top left-hand corner of the screen, I can still select the tabs but its sorta invisible. The cursor is at the left-hand spot but I can select stuff by moving my mouse around (cursor still remains at the same spot)!

I know this sounds crazy but its really irritating. I'm running on Windows XP. Help!

Only a guess, but have you tried installing whatever drivers came with the mouse?  Perhaps something inbetween the laptop, game, touchpad, and mouse are conflicting.

I recall some issues like this with some ATI drivers. Make sure you have the latest video drivers, especially if it's ATI.

Make sure your graphics drivers are compliant with your video card. In the case of an ATI card sometimes installing select versions of the catalyst driver in combination with a certain card causes these problems.
