sins stopped running!

Hi,

I just got the game last weekend. updated game and drivers. Started the game and did the tutorials and it ran fine. Turned game off and when I went to play it the next day it plays the intro movie then freezes on a black screen with a gray arrow cursor. You can hear game music  playing but that's it. I know I'm at the system minimum but the game ran fine the first day for the tutorials. I didn't change or add anything new to system. Looked Like a very cool game from the little that I played it. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

system specs are windos xp SP3, Athlon xp 2400+ running @ 2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Geforce 7800 GS w/ 256 MB, soundblaster Live! x-Gamer  sound card

Did you happen to install any video codecs since "the other day"?  I help out in several flight sim communities as well, and one issue that has plagued those communities is intro-movie crashes/lock-ups/black-screens.  Many of the problems have been traced back to users having installed a video codec called ddfshow (which comes with many video codec packs including software like DivX etc.)  Once the offending codec was removed those game installs resumed normal operation.

Of course you could just un-install and re-install.  There was a known issue with the "tutorials" causing crashing so a reinstall would fix any corruption within the game files (if that in fact is what happened).

thanks,

the Monk

EDIT: I just re-read your OP and since you "didn't change or add anything to your system" please disregard the first part of my reply!  :)

I did try to reinstall game but that didn't work. Still have same problem. I will look for this codec you talked about maybe my wife installed something I don't know about.
