Viable Vasari Strategy?

Hi guys I recently got SINS and just jumped into it with my friends after reading these forums for  abit.

I play vasari and my friend plays advent. One problem im having is facing his destras. Towards the end of every game he spams them en mass. He also adds the progenitor. I was thinking of a fleet composition to counter this. I was mainly thinking about making a good majority of my fleet (say 30 if I have 40 Lrms) carriers. I checked the stat stuff and the vasari strikecrafts are the best so I thought I would use that advantage. I would make the fighter squads bombers to take out his stupid destras. he usually does not make planetary defenses and his fleets usually arent too big. As back up for my weak carriers I wanted to add an Egg to repair their hulls as well as Subverters so that I could weaken the Advent shields while teching up high in shield avoidance for my LRMS. Also I was thinking about teching to RA so that I could easily bring in reinforcements...

I was thinking of a fleet composition as such:

30 Carriers
40 LRMs
15 Subverters
20 Enforcers
1 Skiranta Carrier(depending on amount of resources maybe more)

Also with Planet Bombers of course...

WIth the Enforcers there to flank after ive delt with most of the destras. Is this a good strategy for me to use? Does anyone have any suggestions? Finally where do the vassari shine? Early or Late Game?

The Advent player seems to be using the Progenitor to Shield Regenerate his Destra fleet  and help them live longer, while imposing Malice on your fleet and doing more damage.

Once you have Transporters, their Fighters and Bombers can pretty much take over the Assailant's job of long-range Phase Missile assault, so you could maybe have 10-15 more Transporters and ~10 more Enforcers in place of those 40 Assailants. The Bombers, together with the Enforcers and the Evacuator's Nano-Disassembler should be able to bring down the enemy Progenitor.

As for the position of the Transporters themselves, they should stay in a seperate fleet as far back from the battle as possible while you try to make the enemy engage your Enforcers.

You should also tech the Distortion Field ability for the Subverters, allowing them to disable large chunks of the enemy Destra fleet for a while. The only problem is it's antimatter cost, which requires you to buy antimatter techs or else confine the ability to home ground.

As for those planet bombers, if you get your Evacuator(Space Egg) to Level 6, forget about 'em. Drain Planet will take over their role. Also, the Space Egg doesn't have a repair capability, but the Skirantra Carrier does have a Repair Cloud and the fugly Serevun Overseer has a 200 HP insta-repair ability. You can use either of them to repair your ships.

Get reintegration for your Enforcers. Forget about Assailants unless he spams L. Frigs, too. For tose 40 assailants you can pump out 20 Enforcers. 6 supply vs 12.

Make sure you have Distortion Field for you Subverters.

If you want another cap dont get a second carrier (unless the battle will be long enough that the first will run out of antimatter), get a Space Egg instead.

Phase Missiles arent very effective against Heavy Cruisers. Sure they might ignore the shields but LRM units deal low damage and their attacks dont even work at 100% effectiveness against composite armor (the kind heavy crusers use). Heavies are the way to go once you can afford them. By all means, keep some LRMs on hand, but dont rely on them to deal your damage.

IMHO, Phase Missiles should be upgradable to 50% chace of bypassing shields.

End of quote

Phase Missiles do have a 55% chance of shield penetration with full tech, when teamed with the Subverter's first ability(+25% Phase Missile penetration, -10% Shield Mitigation against one target).

But the better method of Phase Missile delivery is, in 1.09, the Transporter(not the Assailant). The Fighter Squadron can deal 10.4 Phase Missile Anti-Light DPS which shreds Long-Range Frigates, Scouts, Bombers and other Fighters, since it doubles in strength against Light armor. The Bomber Squadron can deal 17.1 Phase Missile Anti-V.Heavy DPS which is most effective against Heavy Cruisers, Structures and Capital Ships. And the Transporter can build 2 of either squadron, or 1 of each.
