v1.096 replays

I decided to start uploading replays of MP games in beta 3.  I hope you enjoy.  Here's the first one that is worth mentioning: http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/7/2039910/AutoRecord-10172237.record

I would like to note that the above map clearly shows the random map generator bug, TWICE. Luckliy each team got one player with a bugged start (only one phase lane).

In order to swtich what is visable, what person you are viewing, and game speed, you must press CTRL+SHIFT+X to toggle the mini-underground menu (which isn't viewable, but blocking the buttons).  This will be fixed when v1.1 comes out.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/7/2039910/AutoRecord-10212039.record - If you want to see how bad I can play, this one is it.  I lost 2 caps to the AI.  If I was paying more attention, it wouldn't have happened.

Um...not really.  If you want the low down:  Carriers are important now, and so are LFs, which are the counter to carriers, especially when you tech up the AM abilities.  You will notice that I built a few to start out, stopped production, and went to LRFs, then carriers, then HCs, then LFs with the AM abilites teched.  I didn't build any flak, although I probably should have.

The only bug i could see is that the replay gui is broken.

yes, they already fixed it for the upcoming v1.1 release.  The undergroud buttons are hidden, but covering up the replay buttons.

Ok, 2 more replays are up.

In the first one, you see the goodness of the Kortul.  It really helps against carrier spam.  You will also notice that LFs play a bigger role now.   You will also see I also built the carrier for the health cloud.  The synergy of the kortul and Cap carrier are very good.

The 2nd one is a good skilled match.  My starting position hosed me, so I had to do some turtling.  This game shows what a little bit of team work can do, and some well placed defensive structures.

PS.  Yes, you can only see it through my eyes.  The Devs are aware of the bug and will be fixing it for the final release.

Please don't tell me this is the match we just played.  The other two players insulted each other for 45 minutes....embarassing.  (everyone rushes to download it now)

ps.  Your starting position wasn't that bad.

Yes it was, and I agree, it got to be annoying.

PS.  It wasn't that bad, but I didn't have many planets; I had no forward base with which to attack you.  Therefore, turtle.

Of course...turtling was a good move, considering my team mate was about to die.

Well, that was a factor too.  Honestly, you would have had me if the other two were at a stalemate.

How do I go about watching these replays?  Specifically; where do I put the files in Vista, that I've downloaded?

Ctrl-Shift-X will usually 'toggle' the underground window so that the replay buttons will work, 'working around' the 1.096 bug. Check the "all visible" button to reveal ally chat.

There's lots of great tips in the first replay.  I know because I was there.  In my defense, I made lots of stupid, nervous mistakes, since it was only about my 10th game online.  Again, if you can, click show everything - to reveal the tips as allies chat with each other.

AppData -> Local -> Ironclad Games -> Sins of a Solar Empires -> and then put them in the proper folder depending on the type (ie: single or multiplayer).

Looks like the file location bit is answered. I would like to point out that Vista is not friendly to downloading files from the internet.  You must first download the file to the desktop or your documents or something.  Then you can move the file to the correct folder.

Good to know about the CRTL+SHIFT+X.  I will have to try that.
