Crashes

Hi ive been playing Sins for awhile now, ive been having crashes almsot since day one. It use to be the display driver has stopped working and recovered. it got anoyying after awhile. But now i get the black screen crashes. my system does a hardlockup. nothing responds and i have to do a hard shut down.

heres my system specs:

Dell Inspirion 6400(laptop)

Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1

Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A17

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU         T5600  @ 1.83GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.8GHz

2046MB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300

   Display Memory: 889 MB
 Dedicated Memory: 121 MB
    Shared Memory: 767 MB

   Driver Version: 7.15.0011.5669 (English)

 Driver Date/Size: 10/4/2007 21:24:00, 4943872 bytes

THESE DRIVERS ARE AS UP TO DATE AS THEY GET. unfortunantly i didnt see any more updates for this driver through nvidia or dell.

i have updated my system with the KB940105 and have vista sp1

i also tried the video trick to turn one file in nvidias drivers into sys.old and update it. it didnt work, although i havent seen the driver has stopped working and recovered message. it jsut crashes after about 10-20 minutes of a game we have palyed for over and hour and a half. i do not know if the display driver is fixed because the game wont play long enough for it to be fixed

i also tried rolling back the driver, deleting the nvddlkm.sys file or whatever and updating,  but still mroe crashes.

i tried setting my setting from medium to high, someone mentioned going from highest to high fixed it, i thought jsut the setting alone would fix it but noting again. i do not over clock my system, i turn it off for this game.ive actually tried running it at lower settings in riv turner to perhaps make it run bette rwith less heat.

someone mentioned heat or power but i doubt thats the problem either. i can load a game that ive been palying for awhile and it will crash. very soon, my laptop was off all night and i turned it on, go striaght into the game, and it crashes after 10 minutes of gameplay.

Have you tried getting your drivers from laptopvideo2go.com as suggested in the technical faq?

Otherwise try updating your sound drivers as well. Many games running on Vista act odd without recent sound drivers.

  • I have an NVIDIA card and my game or video driver keeps crashing!

NVIDIA has resolved this issue as of driver version 174. Check NVIDIA's website for the latest version (if you have a laptop and the OEM does not have the latest version, try laptopvideo2go.com instead).

Yup, get something in the 175+ line from laptopvideo2go.com. That should resolve issues with GF7k cards on Vista.

i downloaded it but says its nto combaptibale with the drivers i do have. or something to that effect. anyways i found a solution and i have kicked myself over and over again. i set it to windowed mode, and it runs perfect. not even a driver has failed and successfully recovered. i get no performance issues either(game running slower) that is usually associated with windowed mode. as soon as i did this we let it run... for 8 hours and not once did we have any problems.
