[MOD] The Nephil: Tools of the Trade (UPDATE 03-11-2008)

Progress:

Ship List: 90% complete

Modding: 70% complete (Ships in .3ds, .max format, just w8ing for a way to convert and I will bring them in)!

Technology: 0%

Statistics and attributes: 65% (Ships general attributes and abilities are on a chart, ready to be brought added to their respective ship whenever he get's inserted into SINS) 

General Comment:

This mod will add a single race to the SoaSE universe, 'The Nephils'.

I will not alter any UI Interface data or add planet types...my sole purpose is to add a new rich and diverse race... Progress is slow as I am new and alone on this project (anyone willing to join should contact me through pm or post).

Though, with the help of Kiedjor and his SuperMiniMod, drastic changes will be made to SINS (ships now more diverse and give away more of that sense of scale (Ie. weak ships will be easily shot down in one shot but will cost 1 supply and be highly spammable! Etc...))

Concept Ideas:

I will...attempt to bring in UTILITY SHIPS..that is vessels which contain low hull points but confer a TREMENDOUS boast to certain of your vessels attributes. For example: Creating a 'tanker' and assigning him with a cap ship would boast your cap ships speed and turn rate by 50-100% (upgradeable through level/research).

Designs:

The Nephil have no military force of their own. As they are merely broadcasting folks, they never intended to be dragged into a war of any kind! Unfortunately, due to the Human perseverance in bringing them down, they have been forced to build a rag-tag fleet, composed merely of derelict vessels from previous empires.

Furthermore, being broadcasters brings the diversity with having seen so many factions. As such, the schematics of their ships will be a melting pot of all thos eraces combined! So be prepared to face simultanesouly, a Star Trek Dreadnought (if my memory serves me right), The Galactica, A cylon baseship, A mobileship factory or even the HMS Hood rebirthed from his watery grave.

More to come once I manage to convert .3ds and .max into SINS meshes!!!! Help GREATELY appreciated!! PLEASE!

Jagged...you a coder? Sweet just what I need!

I could go into the numbers...but with all the lines..I'd get messed up in no time!

BTW I'm trying to post images of the tanker design (still in need of sever work and templates but..just for the general view)! Like I said earlier..tanker = utility vessel which will grant all ships in the gravity well an initial boost of 50% to speed and turn rate).

Bloody hell how do you get images in...mine just won't be accepted!

I'm using imageshack...and write down the link into the add picture (URL) option and all I get is a crossed out box (white box with red x inside) but with no picture :(!

I really wanted to show where I was at :(

So here we go....the first pics of the Tanker ...under construction!

 Kiedjor...can you take care of textures ? Cus I still haven't gotten down to that part yet :(

BTW..like I said those are just starters...ManShOOter..just gave me an incredible modding tip which makes models like 1.000.000x nicer and mmore precise...so I'll redo the tanker using that curve-cutting technique :) and hope I get a better result :)

Im new at it too but I can try. Havent got the hand of different layers and making everything nciely but, if you have some ideas i'll try to cook something up?

Ok then what I would need for the Nephils then would be a submarine...

No..I'm not joking! I want a real live sub into my mod...why? because that's their story and way of fighting..mimicing (which I should post on OP to clarify)!

So if you could find a nice little sub(whichever is simplest for you) and try your hand at it...that would be most kind!

This nice little U-995 should be a good starter :)

Heres my try on the future submarine. Sadly when I try to export through 3dsmax It does not work gives the Tvfaces error. If you want the .xsi model I can give you the link for it.

You even already gave them weapons and all or are you using another ship's data as host..to show them off ;)

Well thank you! :) I never created a mesh scratch before I usually just resize a vanilla sins model. So I was afraid it might turn out ugly.:)

 

Do you want just the mesh or everythign with it?

 

Nope I hardpoint and assign it weapons myself. But, the graphics is made by Manshooter's addon.

Right now..you can keep the sub in your nice little hardrive , seeing as I'm busy trying to get my own ships to look as good :)! But really that would be a kick ass ship in-game! And as we progress through the mod, I'm sure we can go back to the models and 'clear' them up a bit!

How much time did it take you to do it?

Well I was reading tutorials while trying to make one. I kept messing up while doing it! XD So maybe about 4 hours. LOl

4 hours for that is nothing man!

I try to put detail in my ships and I get an average of 12-14 hours for a model!

PS: I'll need your texturing skills for my next baby who's about to come out from my imagination :)

I'll have to go off it in a few as I have an economy exam (modding in the middle of the classroom)! I'll be on whenever I'm done and back home for the entire night!!!

Might still need a bit of tweaking though to make sure everything is nice and smooth but basically YES!
