How Do You Remove Research Items and PlanetModules?

(Or if you were making a Dark Future Mod, How would you Strip Almost Everything Out?) :)

Hi,

         I'm working on a mini mod, i call it "The Last War". It was originally "Last of the Advent" but i carried the idea through to include the other races and basically consists of a future 50 years from now, when the Advent, Tec and Vasari are almost completely destroyed. The Advent have a single Capital Carrier with a smattering of Abilities and a Scoutship and a MobileDefense for the Gravwell. The Tec have three Capitals and support ships, but no way to colonize. It was an idea that happened almost by accident while i was in the playertech.entity file trimming the ships. The Vasari have 4 Capitals, but no support ships and no scouts, and no planet protection. :)  All set in a dark future map with 64 planets, mostly asteroids and space junk, uninhabitable planets and a smattering of habitable worlds in a red star system.  :)  I have altered the metal/crystal output to almost nothing, and the count down to almost nothing. Which means buying anything beyond the first rush is almost nil.  :)  Haha... sounds morbid maybe, but its dark and different, and i figured maybe different enough to be fun.  :)

Anyway, i am crashing the mod on trying to remove the research and planetmodules, so if anyone knows a safe way, could you please let me know?  And also, i am trying to find an artist that might like to "repaint" the advent and vasari and tec ships like the ones in Danman's 7 Deadly Sins Derelict Ships. Maybe i can copy the textures over from the tech ships in 7DS to the other ships and give credit to Danman and company, but I dont know  what kind of editor i need, or can i simply copy the "data" from one file to another in a text editor?

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Remove them from the playerrace entities' build lists :) All you have to do.

Ahhh.. that is what i am trying, or perhaps i am misunderstanding. I am in the playerpsi.entity file, i change the values for the ships. I change count values and delete lines. like change count 6 to count 1 and delete five of the lines i dont want. That is okie, and still functional. But when i go into the planetmodule area and delete entrylines, or change values i get a crash.   Hmmm.... anyway, i must be doing something that is causing the game to have a fit. :)  Will try it one small change at a time and see if i can get it to stay workable.  :)  Thank you Annatar11, take care and keep modding!

In your user.setting file set showErrors to TRUE so it tells you what's going wrong. I recently made a quick mod for a few guys that wanted to play MP with Capitals only and no hangars/repair bays, and I easily removed them from the build lists with no trouble and no errors. So it's supposed to work :P

:)  Yes you are right, i suppose i made a mistake in my counting or something, but yes, when i was careful and

deleted the lines and kept the counts correct, the mod loaded fine.   :)  Thank you and sorry for the confusion, i sometimes am not as careful as i should be when changing things, but i am learning.  :)  Haha... this is coming along very nicely, now all i need to figure out is how to make the ships look beatup and wornout (its supposed to be at the end of a 50 year war between the advent and tec and vasari)  :)
