Combining tech trees!

The title says it all really...is their a way to incorporate both trees into a single structure.

That is grant the ability for a lab to count as +1 military lab and +1 civilian lab instead of having to build one of each???

I don't believe so. The research can only be Combat/Non-Combat/Fleet, and the labs themselves have:

planetModuleRoleType "RESEARCHNONCOMBAT" and planetModuleRoleType "RESEARCHCOMBAT".

 

I don't see any way to make them universal. "Fleet" research works off any lab type as long as the overall number of labs is met, but that's probably not going to do it for what you had in mind.

Is it possible to make noncombat items combatable?  Or the reverse?  Dont know. I would have to change one and see if i crash the mod.   :)

Not in-game. You can change it in the entity file and they'll become attached to the other lab type and will appear in that section of the tech tree. But if you really want to there's nothing stopping you from putting techs that are currently in the combat tree into the civic tree :P

Ahh...i thought making the 'combatible' might make them of use as a weapon, against a target, lets say. Or the reverse, to take a combat item and make it 'non-combatible' to say nerf it.

But to be honest this is all above my head, ive got a little experience and sometimes i think i understand something when i dont. Anyway, thank you Annatar11, take care and keep modding.  :)
