Hum..that could be EXTREMELY interesting if somewhere where to have the answer...leveling frigates..makes the game a whole lot better since you grow attached to your little squad ;)!

AWESOME QUESTION

Would any mods be able provide an answer for the modding community :D ?

cant be done. hardcoaded limit. its like the "has bombing levels" for the cap ship, yet there is no ship in the game that has bombing levels.

Yep. Not possible. Capitals are the only ships that can have levels.

would be cool i guess...maybe cruisers (heavy assault cruisers that is)...not frigates...

oh and annatar, that's all about to change cuz starbases can be lvled up :)

:) Interesting question though...:)

it would be nice to give it a try anyway...:)

No, ships still won't have levels :P The Starbase will just be another entity type to be messed around with, but the existing entities will remain the same.

yeah i know they can't have levels as said above before but hypothetically it would be cool for heavy cruisers

From a programming point of view it should be incredibly simple to implement. But at present its not something you can mod - it would have to be added into the Class Tables of the source code first.

Before that though I'd like to see bomber and fighter levels.

Nah not fighter and bombers..they die to quickly to prove any kind of interest! Only when you spam 30-40 carriers together do they actually start doing some decent damage!

Anyhow, gonna have to adress this issue to stardock, cus this is a real shame! It would be so fun having ALL ships being able to level! Sort of like reconignition for higher performance!

You know like Will Smith in Independance Day when he blows up the mothership...even small ships can accomplish big things and they deserve to be rewarded in that regard! I wanna love ever single one of my ships like it was unique, not just the caps :)!

LOL! Sentimental moment :) LOOOOL

Annatar, since you are close to the Sins devs, perhaps you can answer this for me.

Will the extra modding features in Entrenchment be available only to those who buy Entrenchment, or will the extra modding capability be added into vanilla Sins as well?

Essentially, will you need Entrenchment to make Starbases and upgradeable turrets of your own, or will you be able to do so without Entrenchment?

This is important for me because my Entrenchment purchase depends on it.  If it is required for me to have Entrenchment to be able to mod in Starbases and upgradeable turrets of my own, I won't buy Entrenchment as a company that makes you buy modding capability doesn't deserve my money.  If the features aren't Entrenchment-dependent, then I will be buying Entrenchment.

I'm asking because no-one knows this stuff yet as far as I know, and I really don't want to see Star/Clad start following down EA's path with overpriced and worthless DLC.

If I had to guess, because someone with Entrenchment won't be able to play with those without it, the original game won't get the code support to handle all the new Starbase/minefield stuff. So I doubt you'll be able to play with starbases without Entrenchment.. which is really common sense, how can you get its features without buying it?

I'll refrain from posting what I think of the rest of your comments :P

I'm building star bases! Just mod an incredibly big and tough ship and consider him as a cap ship so he can level up and VOILA! problem solved! You've got yourself a starbase :)

Take care,

Well I'm only asking because if the Sins devs are going to be making all those new entity types, it would be fairly simple to patch them into standard Sins, wouldn't it?  Of course, knowing the mod scene, the second they did that NOONE would be buying Entrenchment as everyone would be modding in Starbases of their own.  And chances are they would make the ones in Entrenchment look like your standard puny Gauss Platform.

And I thought that they were disabled to prevent the player without Entrenchment from being at a massive disadvantage.  After all, how can you beat Starbases without A) Massive Casualties or B) Nice new anti-Starbase LRC's?

And if a company that prides itself on being mod-friendly makes you pay to fix some of the flaws inherent in their own game, such as useless defenses, then I definitely see them as EA-like.  And Annatar, I'm not accusing Star/Clad of being EA-like, yet.  I really DON'T want them to start acting like EA.  I'm only asking because I care.

This is just a thought, but what if?   .....  Crews leveled.  With Captains, with Names, and Leutenants, and Ensigns... well a small handful. Maybe an Engineer? Navigator? My point is if we could have 'very small' escape pods, like the size of fighters/bombers now, very small animations, so it wont take a lot of dev time to do, then we could have a 'crew' escape from a damaged or destroyed ship and move to another one. Lets say level 3 they get blown up, the crew escapes in pods and is taken by escort shuttle back to the main planet, or the closest controlled planet, where a new level 3 ship is commissioned. Hmmmm.... this sounds familiar, maybe someone already suggested this and im just remembering it. Anyway, it would be cool, and way cool to be able to move them from game to game, not just finish one map, yea victory! and start from zero all over again.  In that way perhaps too, the maps could get progressively harder. Anyway. I think it would be nice to identify with the 'crew' you know, build up a sense of familiarity with them, not just faceless ships getting blown up over and over again. A sort of "Oh that is Captain Jack, I won 22 games in a row with him, before the Vasari got him on Sedus Prime with a planet bomb." that sort of thing.

Anyway, just my two cents.  :)

I LOVE YOUR IDEA!! Yet again Teal...it's like we're two twins who have been split apart at birth! that's exactly what I want :)!

A little background story in a game makes the difference betwen simply fantastic and truly epic and that you will remember all you're life (or at least until you're next game )!!
