The Nephils: Tools of the Trade
Chapter 0/Part 1: 'Curtain Rise'
-Nephil archives have been too damaged during the Humans incessant raids. They are scattered throughout the Nephil population trapped inside their minds. As such, this section will be completed as we discover more people and places (Ie. as the mod progresses and I create a background story! Well they do have a background story as the original Nephil thread shows but I'll have to rework that one to make it more interesting) and unlock the secrets of our destruction and rebirth.
Chapter 1/Part 1: 'Our story (mod) begins'
Crugeon dashed through yet another corridor of the Arracova Military Development Center. Was this the second or third time he turned left? He couldn't have answered if his life depended on it, but then again, he had some more pressing issues. A beam scorched the wall just inches from his head proof that he hadn't successfully evaded his humans pursuers. A quick glance behind him, revealed three bulky humans wearing the new Aegis, fully automated metallically armour designed by their Friparian allies. 'Stupid humans, he laughed whilst nimbly dodging the various deadly rays flying towards him, still so predictable. Can't stand up to anyone in a fair fight so you either rely on allies or sneak-attacks to get the job done'. A hail of laser shots showed what the humans thought of that comment. One even managed to strike Crugeon...well it would have struck him, had his deflector shield not have diverted the beam. Crugeon's laughter grew even harder under the attack 'Damn, aren't these babies a wonder', he said pointing at the backpack shaped box he had strapped onto his back, 'a pity, you don't keep your secret locked up hard enough'. He shook the package he was holding under his left arm, 'Imagine what we'll be able to do with this little package. Another beam struck his shield, an indicator on his right forearm issued a warning saying it could not take more than one more hit, 'Interesting... he exclaimed, his voice full of condescendence towards his human attackers, I see you've managed to upgrade your lasers damage...Guess I'll be coming back to see you again soon!'
'Well I've had enough of this little game, he said as he neared a new intersection, it's been fun guys, hope we can do it again sometime' This time, he turned left and as he did, he activated his minor distortion screen (what we humans would call an invisibility cloak). With a sigh of relief, Crugeon relaxed as he saw himself become invisible like so many times before. Noise of footsteps behind him reminded him that he was in what some people would call 'danger'. Personally, he couldn't care less for this weakly willed and physically inept specie which his race had evolved for the benefit of their 'Human Saga Show'. From his point of view, he was a God in the Humans eyes, an immortal being which they could not harm or capture, a self-belief which has fortunately for him, been held true for the time being.
The metallic fiends turned the corner where he calmly stood and ran right past him without even taking a times notice to check the surrounding perimeter with their scanners. 'Another proof of their inferiority, Crugeon told himself, Now let's be off. It's not that I don't like this place, but heck, I've got other places to go, people to steal. He laughed at his own joke.
Few seconds later, he deactivated his invisibility orb and took out a small circular object from his pocket. 'Ah my precious, he whispered as he peered through the darkness of the orb, make me ugly'. As soon as he had pronounced the words, the orb glowed in an undercrossing pattern of colours. A tingling feeling suddenly emerged inside himself as his features started to measure up to human standards. Crugeon soured in disgust. He had hated that artefact ever since his races Grand Council Leader, Asmodeus, had given it to him, unfortunately, it was the only for him to approach a Human colony without being detected to the naked eye (a scanner would easily pick him off as being Nephil). Really, what is more recognisable than a scaly hided, naked tail like that of a rat and dog liked headed with two small horns humanoid which barely tops more than 75 centimetres in terms of height.
Under the protective aura of his charm and no noticeable threat, Crugeon smoothly walked back to his 'borrowed' TEC transport vessel (burrowed with a very long expectancy date, we will say as I seriously doubt its predecessors will come back and get it in their present state) and after a dozen or so of uneventful jumps rejoined what was left of the Nephil fleet...
Chapter 1/Part 2: 'Tic, Tac, Tic, Tac...BOOM'
-Where we will discover what was hidden in Crugeon's stolen package!
-Where our Hero (read MY Hero) will be sent on a very 'interesting' (to put it as Crugeon would say) assignement!
-And much much more... (well maybe a bit less but what the hell, everyone writes that to attract more readers/customers).
