About 3ds into XSI (or any format to put into sins)

OK!

I'm done with XSI for a while...been hearing so much about 3ds and it's simplicity so I wanna go check it out!

Problem is how do I convert my .3ds file into .mesh or .XSI! (Ie...whats the fastest and most efficcient way to convert into a sins friendly file type)!

You can export a .3ds or .mesh to .obj then import the .obj into XSI.

You will need to do some work in XSI on the imported model and will loose information on textures.

I have tried a conversion tool to do it directly but the results were awful, maybe I was doing it wrong I dunno.

I'd be interested to hear anyone elses view on this.

Damn...I lose textures but then again....A well!

As long as I get the ship in the game

Bloody hell..just won't work..I exported into obj...brought obj into XSI, and he converted it into something disgusting!

And when I just ask him to import .3ds files...he gets an error message saying he failed to save before system failure..like what the hell ! Some of us are trying to wrok here!!! *crashes head in keyboard!!!

PLease....I'm dying to get these online!

 

If this continues...I'll deliver my models to someone else and ask them politely to change them (they'll get FULL credit for it! Since they would have brought the backbone of the mod)!!! So if everyone feels adventurous, just send me a PM and I'll send you the files (or at least 1..so you can test out your skills )

Try direct x format for importing to xsi. I have had trouble importing from .3ds, and .obj myself, but .x format has given me the least amount of errors.

Use deep exploration if you are going to be doing much converting between file formats. Just easier to use a program designed for that IMO.

You are using xsi 6.0 correct?
