Sick Strat

Advent vs TEC

This was on 1vs1 and I am calling this strat undying horde, after controlling one more planet than the enemy i first upgraded the tactical limit on my planets facing enemy planets and built the maxium amount of defenses(and luckily had a weapon testing facility on 1) I then put trade ports and culture structures on my planets and began researching a higher max fleet supply. After the start its simple from their, because of all of your structures produce credits you should have enough credits to build a max army of dicipline vessels and decimate the remaining TEC planets.(I was on hard). Please reply if this strat works 4 you and feel free to tell me how to improve on it.

Well one immediate flaw is that you assume your opponent wont get by your static defenses and destroy you as you are fleetless. Also, if your enemy takes a liking to destroying your trade ships then this strat would take an even longer amount of time. Also im pretty sure you incur a penalty when your trade ships die so you might even lose money as opposed to if you just made a fleet and attacked. Also what if your enemy is a vasari. They can RA you with the time you leave them and destroy you completely.

Personally I wouldnt run this strat but it would be fun to try I guess.

1. If you have a higher fleet supply, you'll also have a higher upkeep,  that means you lose more money.

2. Attack Hard AI with an army of discipline is suicide.

there is no succesfull strategy that doesnt include aleast a few ships in the start... for the moment defenses are for aiding your defending fleet, not to actually hold a planet, i can just run past gauss turrets if i would have to...., so without ships u lose

why get trade ports?  do you play on a large or small map? why bother massing diciples if u can get a well balanced fleet with roughly the same cost, that is 10x more effective

diciples must be seen as a utility frigate, cuase u can give it the steal antimatter ability, wich really pwns (having 25 of em in a well-balanced fleet = a must-have)

it's about how you play really....  having a big fleet at start increases your chance to win a rush, but if you lose, your stuck witha a high(er)  supply that has negative effect on your income (9% for level 1....19% for level 2, so it matters lots)

SPAM fleets work against an AI ( most of the time ). You'll get hammered agaisnt a human.

As far as TEC is concerned.... Two Words : Missile Barrage

An all disciple fleet is going to get shredded by an opponent using LRMs.

1. Assuming a Hard TEC is not able to blow apart your poorly arranged Static Defenses (Even though TEC isn't that good), what are you supposed to do then? He easily decimates your trade ports and your income and your stock market crash, what's next? Build a fleet of Light Frigs and charge into battle?

2. Discpline fleet against a Hard TEC? They will get shredded, as the user aboev me posted, by LRM's, and once your "fleet" is gone and your economy is in shambles, and your poor planetary defenses are being torn apart, there is nothing to do but surrender or fight with what you have left (Basically a few thousand credits and a couple poorly-defended planets with the largest space fleet in history assembled right on your doorstep).

3. Undying horde? The enemy is the undying Horde! You have shit while you wasted thousands of credits, metal and crystal on hangars and turrets, while you didn't do shit to scout the neabry systems, and the enemy is slowly buildign a fleet of massive capital ships with names like "n00b pwnzrz" and "ul71m4 h4xx0rzz".

There's some comments for you.

Yes, I may have been harsh, but it's true.
