Is it just me or is the fleet setting in game options broken? I always set it to small fleets yet the AI still seems to build up to fleet cap if given enough time. I actually figured the setting would change the fleet cap yet that doesn't seem to be the case either.
I believe what it does is change how many points you receive to create ships.
I notice a big difference when playing small and large.
About 100 points worth or so.
I build 3 light frigs and 1 cap before 1st upgrade and im capped.
The fleet size option changes the global population limits, not the AI. Small fleet reduces the pop cap by 25% across the board, and large increases it by 25%. This, along with the other game options is set in the gameplay.constants file(if you're modding).
Bah! what a gyp, one would expect Fleet size to affect FLEET SIZE, not empire population. The two are wholly unrelated, givin enough time one can always create the same exact fleet size no matter what settings, if there was ever an issue to be adressed in a patch this is it, just out of sheer understanding of the english language I say.
