What's going on with my ships and the grav well?

As you can see here the ships have settled to attacking outside the grav well?

Anyone have this problem?

Sorry, this GeoCities site is currently unavailable.

Can you upload it to Photobucket or Imageshack.us?

And keep the save game handy because if that's what I think it is, you'll need it.

ive seen this b4  on a 1 v 1 doppelganger map

guy was afk for some time until he lost his fleet,  with some advice he found it in the empire screen,  only to see them somewhere between the void of the stars...... he was able to jump back to the planet where he last stationed them tough.....

i should say in all technicality those are the AI fleets. (both orange and green)

but why have the left the well, wierd. I had one time when an AI went UP the "Z" axis so far I couldn't see it anymore.

yap...

although not as extreme as your pic above but i had rather similar thing happening to me last night in 1v1 vs AI

i am still not 100% to claim something for sure but i think 1.1 might have introduced few minor bugs about...

need to play it more...

This might be related to strike craft an AA frigates:

Strike crafts leave the gravity well when fighting at the edge or being pushed away by Halaycons (and so on).

The AA frigats chase the strike crafts and leave the gravity well. All ships that target the AA frigates follow the frigates - and might leave the gravity well as well (1$ for the "bad worldplay box"). The strike craft have to attack ships outside of the well, so after strafing they might have an even greater distance from the gravity well than before. AA frigates follow again, rinse, repeat.

I've had this problem before 1.1

I think you may be right gaga. It happend when I had a large fleet and lots of cruisers with "pushing" abilities.

problem before 1.1 also.

it's not a major concern, just wierd, right?

Do you still have a save game of it? It's possible that ships simply got pushed a bit far - if that's the case it's not really a bug. If they want to fly out there on their own, IC hates that :P

If you catch any ship trying to fly the phase lane normally instead of jumping (trade ships and such used to do this), be sure to save the game and send it to [email protected] with a description. As it is, it's hard to tell what happened in this screenshot to get them all there.

yeah the prob will be, I just happened by on it, wasn't really watching them.

but I can see if I have it.

ANOTHER grav well problem!

This is concerning the pirate base, and I checked, it does not seem like there is anywhere to modify the grav well radius.

What the hell is that? There's so much stuff wrong with that screenshot it's not even funny :P Got a save of it?

yeah, i made sure this time.

but how can I upload?

You can allways fight outside the gravity well and it is easy to modify the distance of the gravitywell and the distance outside of it the only problem I have had is on the mod I made the ships some times will go up on the z axis the real radius of the planet star etc. which seems to be unlimited

but yeah its always been a option to fight outside the Gravity well the Gravity well is mainly there for jump distance and building placement

End of EviliroN's quote

rapidshare.com allows you to upload files for free. You can also use filefront.com if you like :P

For the files about the pirates:

SAVE FILE

STATS FILE

didn't know if they were both needed

I know this thread is kinda dead, but there has been no resolution.

This has happened to me quite three times, and each time it happened, I was using Guardians and set the repulsion ability to autocast. Three times I did that, and three times I had the gravwell problem. Coincidence?

you don't even need to do that, the problem seems most prevalent on dupplegangers. I can't remember a fight where when i finnaly got to the last system. the AI will have like 1500fleet supply of fleet at the star... all of them WAAYYYY outside the grav well

would be nice to get fixed as it seems the AI can't figure out how to get them back again

i have also noticed the prob where the AI sends my ships to another grav well the "long way"
